Nearly as good as the first
Still a very witty book… not quite as many laugh out loud moments but still funny! Trouble is, I’ll be wondering now if a/ is my GP wondering when he can end my consultation, or b/ is s/he Dr Benjamin Daniel’s?

Read in one sitting
I like these ‘confessions’ books generally, but this has been my favourite so far. It was funny (they usually are) but also pretty informative and I got a bit emotional at times. Would recommend.

As good as the first book
Having worked as a nurse for over 42 years the majority of the time in Primary Care I can relate to this book. I read the author’s first book some time ago so I was keen to read his second book which I enjoyed just as much as the first. GP’s like all NHS staff are under considerable pressure and sometimes it’s therapeutic to write about their work albeit anonymously. The book is easy to read and the short chapters make it ideal just to put down and pick up again later.

Really had to ask, is this GP for real?
Having read the feedback, I wanted to get this for a friend, who had been a GP. But unfortunately I order the 2nd book, and as I read it, I realised why I had got it so cheap! Maybe some will think its funny, to make comment about patients-I don't. I was horrified when his friend who works in A & E said you behave like an actor, and always have a smile on your face.. How sad to think its a false smile and not one with any worth behind it? I always read a book, when I get it for someone. I'm glad I did, as no way would I give this to her. Sadly, as a nurse I have come across such doctor's. Those who, have already made their mind up about a patient, even before they see them. I am jut o thankful we have a wonderful caring GP, who despite being pushed to her limit, with work and the constant battle to reach targets. Yet, she is one in a million and, only when I read this dreadful book, am I even more blessed to have her. Don't get me wrong, I always see the funny side and, laughter is the best medicine.. Sadly, not at the expense of the poor patient. He certainly must be a great actor, in that, no one ha seen through him.. That's the saddest part that, patients think they have a caring doctor.. P.A.W.

More Experiences from Dr Benjamin Daniels
This is an honest account of a doctor's experiences from a medical student to junior doctor, working abroad and in Accident and Emergency (A&E) alongside his main practice as a GP. He writes fluently in an almost effortless easy-to-read style. Most of the content deals with encounters with patients that will be familiar to the medical profession varying from the grateful to the difficult to the impossible. Ben Davies deals with them all with care, compassion, conscience and to the best of his ability, knowing there will be inevitable blips. There is happiness, sadness, grief and much humour contained in this book. The author's opinions on bureaucratic changes imposed on General Practices, the NHS, targets, consultation times and criticism of nurses are aired in a balanced way during the 'confessions'.As someone who worked his way up the medical ladder but ended on the hospital side rather than General Practice, I can vouch for the authenticity of the author's encounters as I and many others have had similar experiences to deal with. This is a well-written, thoughtful and humorous book that is a marvellous read and emphasises the doctor-patient human relationship with trust at the forefront. Excellent, highly entertaining and recommended.

Had me laughing out loud and the feel good factor from reading it lasted for days
A tremendously witty and informative book. Had me laughing out loud and the feel good factor from reading it lasted for days. This tome makes you realise how fallible your health really is when you fail to take responsibility for your own lifestyle choices and then expect doctors and the NHS to deliver the majic bullet to make things right again. Should be stored in every GP practice as essential reading and no doubt could be a game changer for those of us who need nudging in the right directionto a healthier lifestyle. If Ben wrote diet and exercise books with his witty style it would be a best seller and who doesn't want to feel laughter when undertaking a new regime as most of us get low just thinking about the effort involved. I loved both his books and have embarked on a healthier regime ax a result of reading this inspirational book. I am sick of carrying my menopausal belly around in a wheelbarrow so time to loose that and my wobbly lardybutt too. A great read, buy it!

Humorous insight into the world of GP
I read the first book and found this sequel equally as good. It was a great yet humorous insight into the world of GP. I also liked how the author touches on issues wider than just the consultation room, such as the issues around private practice, the inner workings of the NHS and even the ethics around resuscitation and dying were lightly touched on. It has a lot of great lessons as well for both medics and patients alike, a great read for those interested in British medical non fiction. It was not long, took a few days to finish reading
