Ok, so I am never going to mount this torch on a gun, but thats no reason not to have such a torch in the toolbox. I am always looking for different types of torches for different uses - I do a lot of building and electrical work which means there are a whole load of unusual situations where a standard torch is a bit impractical. I ordered this as I thought the wired on off switch might be handy which indeed it has been. I've settled on mounting the torch and the remote switch to a small table top tripod stand which in effect has given me a mini spotlight that I use for detailed work such as working under floors when plumbing or connecting electrical installations.In use the torch is good - it is bright but not overly so. Apparently there are high and low power modes but I cannot get it to switch to the lower power: there is a process of half pushing in the on/off switch 10 times but it didnt work for me. Unlike other 'tactical' torches, this has a fixed head so cannot be zoomed, which isnt really a problem and I suppose if you do have it mounted on a gun you would want a fixed beam. The build quality is very good - it is solidly made and I have no worries about its durability.The torch comes with 2 batteries and a charger which is a nice touch but you have to remove the battery from the torch to charge it which is a bit of an inconvenience. I have loads of torches, and this one is definitely different from the rest and I have set it up on the tripod which works well for me. It is however compact enough that you can pop it into your pocket (using the fixed switch) for when you are out and about. So 4 stars for build quality, 3 stars for usefulness (when its not on a gun at least).
