Knife Sharpening Whetstone Set – Comprehensive Kit & Works Well for Sharpening
This knife sharpening whetstone kit arrived in a simple cardboard box. Inside there are x2 double sided cutting stones with a black rubber surround base and a flattening stone for relevelling the whetstones all wrapped in cellophane plastic and then wrapped together in bubble wrap. There is also bamboo base with a non-slip base (packaged in a bubble wrap bag), a leather strop for polishing and removing burrs, an angle guide, cut resistant gloves and a stone fixer for removing dirt and worn layers form the stone. The stones themselves measure 18cm in length, 6cm in width with a thickness of 2.8cm which is a good size for pretty much any blade. The coarser stone that has the 400 / 1000 grit is best for repairing nicked or chipped blades which are very blunt and fixing small gaps and removing burrs, whereas the finer 3000 / 8000 finer grit stone is best for sharpening the edge and honing / finessing the blades for the sharpest cut. There aren’t any instructions included but it is easy to refer to the images on the product page or online videos are equally as useful. To use the whetstone fully submerge it into water for around 15 minutes. Then hold the knife with the cutting edge facing away from you in combination with the angle guide pull the blade across the stone. Once you are done wash the stone and dry it out appropriately.I am using this with my kitchen knives but it can be used with pretty much any blade or sharp edge. During use the bamboo base stays securely in place and I found the process of going up through the grit levels relatively easy. I didn’t think the leather strop was necessary personally, particularly as it wasn’t provided with any compound and the gloves aren’t the best quality but otherwise, I think this whetstone set is very good. Priced at £22.99 at the time of reviewing, I think this is very reasonable and I would be happy to recommend it.

Decent kit, angle guide not so great
Decent enough whetstone kit that does what its meant to.I found the angle guide wasn't too great to use and could have been better designed.Produces a decent sharp edge that I was able to achieve without much in the way of effort. Its worth watching some videos online as to how to use this kinda item properly if you've never done it before as it can be a little tricky.Base did hold in place pretty well too which was nice as again, dont really want to slip doing something like this.

Versatile Knife Sharpening Set
I spend a lot of time doing food preparation and like to have my selection of food prep knives regularly sharpened. This Meff-Mluk Knife Sharpening Stone Kit is fairly comprehensive with a good selection of Whetstone grit sizes, plus a stone for levelling the sharpening stones if they become uneven after a number of uses and a smaller stone for removing debris from the larger stones. Also included is an angle guide, bamboo base, leather strop for polishing and I especially like the inclusion of a pair of cut resistant gloves.I find it best to soak the Whetstones for 30 mins prior to use and I rinse them periodically with clean water to prevent them drying out during use. They have rubber bases which helps them remain stable on a work surface during use. Having used the leather strop a few times it does work as intended though I think it will improve with more use as the leather needs wearing in to get it to its best. I find the grit sizes in this set are well matched allowing me to correct small defects in cutting edges and then work down through the grit sizes and finish with the 8000 grit which seems ideal for finely ground cutting edges. For everything included in this sharpening set I think it is reasonably priced as all of the items included look and feel well made and in my personal experience they work as they should. Recommended.

Quality Control is out the window
Well…..the picture above is how I found them after opening the box.A big chunk out of one stone and multiple ripples and divvets out of the other, which the flattening stone may or may not remedy, but they are deep enough that it’ll need some hard work to get flat. Not happy with this. No instructions or info either.

Complete sharpening kit.
There is something about doing things with your own hands which I find rewarding and therapeutic at the same time.Such is the case with sharpening my knives by myself, but besides the therapeutic factor and the satisfaction that I have accomplished something, there is also a money-saving aspect as I don't have to replace the knives or take them for sharpening where again I would have to spend money. The set comes complete with everything necessary (as far as I know, as I am not an expert) for a good knife sharpening session.Compared with other sets, this one in particular has an extra grit and a flattening stone. The whetstones sit comfortably on a bamboo base which offers good grip and doesn't move around, this being essential for an efficient and safe sharpening. When doing the sharpening the stones have to be wet at all times for a good result and the blade needs to go from a higher to a finer grit as it becomes sharper and sharper, and eventually the sharpening finishes on the leather strap but honestly by the time I am tired and don't have a lot of patience left, so the leather strap is not something I use often. This set is offering me everything I need to sharpen my knives manually and I get a good result most of the time.
