Serious scripture scholars and those who are not scholars but want to know more about scriptural prophecy will want to take a serious look at the Navarre Bible, which is socomprehensive that it is released in several book combinations. I couldn't carry this typeof study Bible unless it was divided into many volumes.Having more background on the historical times surrounding events in the Bible and as well asanthropological and sociological data about the lives of people in those times has opened upa new level of understanding for me. I just didn't have the background to really understandthe significance of what was said, how it was said in the context of the times. Couple thiswith the difficulty of accurate translation from ancient languages that do not use the samevocabulary that we use, I sometimes felt underinformed and, therefore, doubted that I really understood the times and mostly likely was limited in understanding the fullness of the message.Church history is imbedded within the study materials. Christianity started with Christ and not at the Reformation. This is must know material for Protestants, Catholics, and all doubters.Now I am more excited than every before about the truths in the Bible. The Navarre translation is the best I've owned!

I have the complete set of the Navarre bibles. As a lover and student scripture these volumes reveals a deeper understanding of scripture.

So helpful for official and individual Bible study. I am learning a lot and will keep on studying.

The RSV translation is wonderful. If you are into Catholic notes - they're really good. These are nice books to handle too.
