Work very well
Easy to install and comes with all hardware. Bought them because of the drainage feature. Only complaint is the expansion bolts are cheaply made and a little uneven, but do the job. Also the black screws that hold the post have little surface rust on them after a few days so may need to replace them eventually. However, for the price these are great.

Work great
This set of 4x4 anchor plates is perfect for securely mounting posts on our deck! They fit the 4x4 posts well and provide excellent stability, ensuring everything stays in place even in rough weather. The plates are sturdy and well-made, giving the whole deck a solid feel, and the installation was straightforward with all the necessary holes for easy mounting. These anchor plates are a fantastic option for anyone looking to reinforce their deck or other outdoor structures—they add reliable support and durability. Highly recommended for a great combination of quality and ease of use!

Excellent project. Just what I needed.
Sturdy, well constructed post bases. I will be using them to extend a fence and to set a new gate post over concrete

Quality Item, looks nice, won't rust, and comes with fasteners
I have tried a number of different post bases, and this item really is the one I would recommend first. The others are cheaper compared to buying one of these. Most others are about the same for one or two for the price of this one. But these are significantly cheaper if you buy the four pack that is available right now (I wrote this in August 2024 in case it changes). These are very sturdy and help prevent rot by holding the base off of the ground a half-inch. Other items I’ve seen that hold it off of the ground are up one inch (which you might need for building codes), but I found that those other bases, not only looked ugly, but were more expensive and didn’t stabilize the post well enough. For this item, I find no cons whatsoever. Very much worth the money and should last a while.STURDINESSThe material it’s made of is thick and durable. I think the coating on it will last very well outdoors. Some types of post bases cover either two sides of the post or two corners of the post, depending on the base. This may help the post dry out faster, but I feel like it doesn’t secure the post quite as well to the post base. This especially seems true of the other common steel-colored adjustable bases that are ugly and the same price for one. Those steel adjustable post bases allowed the post to move back and forth for me (they also rusted immediately since they are galvanized and uncoated). This item sits perfectly still/solidly on the ground (assuming you installed the fasteners right).FASTENERSNot all post bases come with bolts/screws. This one comes with both. The bolts are easy to use. The screws take Phillips #3. Both held up fine when being run into concrete. Just make sure not to overtighten either. I only put bolts in four of the six holes in the bottom of the base. I don’t find 6 bolts necessary to get a post solid enough. I have mine on concrete too. I have trouble drilling the holes perfectly in the right spot. That is the benefit of getting adjustable post bases since they only use one bolt. I found that using the bolts instead of the screws was easier for me. I learned that placing them in the base first, and then inserting all four at once worked best.A lot of bases I’ve used have very small holes in the bottom. It is great to see a good size hole in this one, therefore. With that the fasteners used can be larger and longer. I do with the screw holes that you use to connect the base to the bottom of the post were offset. They are lined up the same height on all four sides. Therefore, the screws must be short enough that they don’t run into each other in the center of the wood. I used longer ones on two sides and then two shorter ones on the other sides. I used decking screws. The screws it comes with are masonry and thus for concrete. They would be too long to use in the post. The other bases that did come with fasteners didn’t come with those that you can use in concrete. I don’t think the ones they came with were even exterior screws.ROT PREVENTIONBetween raising the post off of the ground and having seven holes in the half-inch opening underneath, it is much more effective at reducing rot than bases that require the wooden post to sit directly on the ground which are usually the tapered or retrofit post bases. This item like other post bases has a small gap between the inner sides and the sides of your inserted post. I’ve seen larger gaps in other post bases. If your 4x4 posts are a little larger than 4x4, you might have an issue. The ones I have gotten from Menards are either 3.5x3.5 or a tiny bit smaller, so they fit just fine into this base. The tapered and the ugly adjustable bases.CONCLUSIONAfter trying multiple different types of post bases for 4x4 posts, this one is the best of them all. Be sure to check building codes, since I think they usually require posts to be 1 inch off of the ground and these are only ½ inch. If that isn’t an issue, then this is a fantastic choice. Then it is the cheapest choice if you need bases in multiples of four. They are secure, come with well made fasteners, made of tough material, and will prevent rot well. I have no cons for this item, all pros.

Super Strong and Versatile Post Bases — For Fencing, Pergolas, Porches, and Much More!!
I’ve been working on building a new fence around my property. Part of it runs across a large concrete pad. Initially, I’d planned to core the fence posts and concrete them into place. But it seemed absurd to cut holes and create weak points. I found these 4x4 post bases. When ordering them, it was hard to tell exactly how sturdy they would be. I wanted bases that would be robust and look good. I took the plunge.I’m really impressed with these brackets. They are built out of heavy steel and the cedar 4x4’s I used fit snugly in them. They hold the posts tight and straight. The fencing I’ve installed is rock solid. These brackets allow me to easily remove/replace the 4x4 posts when they start to deteriorate. Another thing to point out is the configuration of the base mounting tabs. I have another type of post base with tabs on all 4 sides. They are fine but I was hoping to find a way to put the fencing along the edge of the pad. These brackets have steel mounting tabs on two sides, opposite each other. I was able to set the posts right where I wanted them. These post bases are an excellent value and really work well. Once the 4x4 is seated and bolted in, the assembly is stout — no real movement of the fence at all!I can’t recommend these brackets highly enough. I’ve had really good experiences installing them and believe they will last many, many years. Great product and awesome seller. Order with confidence.
