North Mountain Supply Fermaid O Yeast Nutrient - for Beer and Wine Homebrewing - 2oz Jar

This is a carbamide free option for feeding nutrients to your yeast. I use 1/4 of a teaspoon Per-Gallon. The first 1/4 of a teaspoon I add at yeast pitch. The next 1/4 of a teaspoon at 24 hours. Then a final 1/4 a teaspoon at 48 hours if the fermentation is still going strong. Mix the Fermaid O with enough water (I use spring water) to dissolve it. Let it sit for 1-2 minutes then pour it into your ferment. This helps lower the additional CO2 created by the Fermaid O. This is a fast working Nutrient. I had a wine develop a surfer smell. If yeast are starving they can produce Hydrogen-sulfide. Add this in had the smell subside in only a few hours as the yeast began to consume the Fermaid O. This yeast nutrient does not impart any additional or off flavoring, allowing the true taste of the wine to shine through. This product does have a very pleasant bakery type aroma that diminishes as the yeast feed on it. To keep the product for an extended period of time make sure that it remains sealed and keep in a cool refrigerator drawer. The nutrient sustains the yeast for a sufficient duration. Having moved away from carbamide products, this nutrient is well worth the money.

I bought the 2oz size because I was just starting out but I use a lot of this stuff so I should probably re-order a larger size. Item arrived on time, packaged nicely, and functions as expected.

Seems to do what it's supposed to do, the small drug bottle storage option is nice, resealable and keeps moisture out, which you definitely want of you don't want this to turn to concrete.

I have ordered this product TWICE and both have been damaged when they arrived! The first time the seal was punctured with no lid, the second time it had a lid but the seal was also open and had spilled!
