Can these lights handle a Minnesota winter or would they need to be taken down in the fall?

We have these on the end of our pier & all our outside steps at our cabin in northern WI. They have worked very well for us and we never remove them for the winter.

Do they automatically charge and come on?

Yes. There’s a switch inside you just turn to on during set up. Then that’s it. They turn on automatically every night then.

Do they automaically come on at night?

Yes. They stay on all night too and have been great at keeping our deck better illuminated, especially the stairs. They don't look so scary now!

What kind of replacement batteries do you need

One 1.2v 600mah AA Ni-CD rechargeable battery is provided. However, this battery is insufficient to provide light all night long. I recommend replacing with a AA NI-MH battery of at least 2000mah.
