The Shereshevsky Method to Improve in Chess: From Club Player to Master

Excellent Method of Study
Excellent method of study. Each section is laid out for the reader to follow. I suggest you don't change a thing in his approach while learning from this book. I hope Mr. Shereshevsky writes many more books on chess.

Haven't completed it yet but do like it a lot
Book was purchased as an update to the two books it was derived from. Haven't completed it yet but do like it a lot.

Ethical flaws mar otherwise good book.
Although most of the plagiarized writing was from Shereshevsky's books, he does plagiarize Watson and Dorfman. In the case of Watson, this is inexcusable. With Dorfman this is helpful as he is hard to understand. That said, attribution and perhaps (even better) collaboration would have been better.

Not a middlegame book.
Primarily an opening and endgame guide. Was looking more for a middlegame book. But the writing is so good that I learned a lot.

It was fun to read the recollections of a Russian Grand Master ...
Probably too advanced for me. It was fun to read the recollections of a Russian Grand Master of his times before the collapse, though.

Interesante
El título no tiene mucho que ver con el libro, sin embargo brinda recursos y guía para el jugador autodidacta. Es entretenida y amena en su lectura.

So disappointed when I opened it
Only 2*. Mikhail Shereshevsky is a very highly praised author of some classic chess texts. I doubt this will be a classic. As luck would have it a few weeks earlier I finally managed to buy a copy of Shereshevsky's 1994 book 'The Soviet Chess Conveyor'; only had to pay £30 for it; a very rare book. Then New In Chess publish this new book, 'The Shereshvesky Method'. So disappointed when I opened it. Not just a cut and paste from the 1994 text but sections also copied from other authors. Whoever commissioned this 'version' at New In Chess has produced a dud!The 1994 text, though out of date in places, is superior to the NiC edition.
