I would look for a tide watch somewhere other than NIXON
update......i was upleasantly suprised to find out my "new watch" is two years old and no longer under warrenty by nixon... kinda freeking ridiculous if you ask me! Thanks fullfiled by amazon. Got any expired food i can buy too??Actually really want to love this watch, especially after the geniuses @ Nixon failed to put the gasket back in a "super Hero SS" (Now discontinued)I loved that watch and the "lowdown" is an exact macth except a little smaller. But when you spend a couple hundred on a watch. the last thing you expect is, to have to send it in for service 2 days after you recieve it. Because the backlight was not working and even in modest ligh,t the backlight is the only way you are going to be able to see anything on the face of this watch.But this pretty much describes Nixon over the last couple years. Not only has their style gone from surf/utilitarian to oversized hunks of steel, more suited for clubbing somewhere thats land locked.The other con, I am mailing that watch to be serviced today. I got a fiver that I won't see it for at least 4-5 weeks. Then just hope that the repairs are done right, so your watch doesn't look like a snow globe the first time you paddle out with it.Sorry Nixon, this was you last shot from a household that over the last decade has accumulated 9 Nixon watches

pretty good
I like almost everything about this watch. It is a eye catcher. I have received many compliments on it. The only downside to it is if you are in only moderate lighting, the display is a little difficult to read. I feel like I have to turn the backlight on more frequently than I expected. When outdoors in the sun the display is very bright. Just a minor flaw. I would definitely buy another one if this one broke.

excellent watch, comfortable to the wrist, the only problem and for which I regret having bought it, is to get the strap, use a unique strap and so far it is very difficult to get

Not worth the price
I own this watch, note that the reverse displays on the Nixon Lodown watches have very, very poor readability in anything but bright outdoor sunglight. Even then, it's marginal. Believe me, it is nothing like the photos, which must have been manipulated to make the display appear way brighter than it really is. It's nearly unreadable indoors.Also, the "owner's manual" is nearly worthless. It is basically incomprehensible; you'll be messing with this thing for hours until you get it figured out.The poor display on the reverse (light on black) versions makes it a do not buy. Plus, I think the true value of the Lodown should be about 1/3 of what the list price is. Sorry, but as a new owner of this exact watch, that's the way I feel.
