This mount plate has an attached compartment that fits an AirTag with very little wiggle room, no noticeable rattling. The AirTags does work through the enclosure, perfectly locatable. The plate itself works well with Arca-type mounts. This comes with two Allen wrenches, one for the small screws for the AirTag compartment and one for the camera-attaching screw. The construction seems sturdy, all metal except the AirTag compartment cover that is made of some rigid plastic. The fit in Arca-type sliders has some play, not as exact as the plates provided with the sliders that I tried this on. The included, printed instructions are generic, not specific to this item. I guess the warranty is 2 years, in the table that lists different types of products, with this one probably fitting under “Accessories”. There are three QR codes that land you on the manufacturer’s webpage, youtube and Facebook page for the manufacturer. None of these gets you directly to the specific product, all open the general, top-level pages. In my opinion, there was not enough design effort put into hiding that this holds a tracking device, nor to make it more tamper-resistant. The AirTag compartment opens on the bottom, clearly visible and easy to open without taking out the plate from the camera. All screws have generic heads, for which it is easy to find the right wrench to open, and the main screw takes one flat screwdriver to detach the plate from the camera. The shape is not trying to suggest some purpose, or some aesthetic reason for the extra, attached volume: it’s just a plate with some obvious extra compartment with no apparent purpose. In the end, this is just a means to attach an AirTag to the camera, with not much effort to hide it or make it hard to remove either the AirTag or the whole plate from the camera. For someone grabbing your camera in a hurry, it surely helps for at least a few minutes, as there’s no time for the thief to inspect closely. But on the first occasion to take a good look, chances are the plate gets removed and thrown away. Also, thieves have good phones these days, so the alert that an AirTag is moving with them will come up within minutes. I’d say, pretty limited practical utility for this device as a guardian of expensive photo and video gear.

Not as described

This is a good tri-pod quick release plate. I lost the one that came with my tri-pod and I contacted the seller and they wanted $35.00 for a new one. I felt that was crazy high for their plate. I found this one and figured I would try it. It fit perfect and is exactly what i needed but, much cheaper and I can add an Air Tag if I want to. This is made out of quality aluminum and other materials. I am very happy with my choice to get this quick release plate.

The quick-release (QR) plate with AirTag holder is a great idea. It was simple to install an AirTag into the holder in the QR plate using the smaller of two provided Allen wrenches. The major downside for me is the QR plate does not work well with the QR baseplate on either of my tripods. My QR baseplates have a level bubble, and the AirTag holder hits the bubble housing and prevents attachment to the baseplate. If I turn the QR plate 180 degrees, the AirTag holder then contacts the knob used to tighten the QR plate onto the tripod baseplate, which results in the QR plate sitting off-kilter and not attaching securely to the QR base plate. It does “work” in this second position, but I don’t trust the connection and it is very awkward to access the tightening knob. The point of a QR plate is quick interoperation with a tripod or other gear, but this QR plate fails on that front. The other downside is that the larger Allen wrench is used to attach the QR plate to the camera. It would have been nicer if the bolt that attaches to the camera included a D-ring to tighten and loosen it so no separate tool would be needed. The bolt is slotted so a standard screwdriver or coin can also be used to tighten the bolt if the wrench is lost or not easily accessible. I will use the QR plate/AirTag holder to track my camera while traveling but will replace it with a different QR plate whenever I need to put the camera on a tripod. It would have been far nicer if I could have simply left the QR plate/AirTag holder in place whether using a tripod or not.

This attachment is a very useful way to track your camera and never lose it. The design is subtle and doesn’t indicate tracking space is included since it is relatively small. It does attach to the camera as the pictures show. Included are two Allen wrenches for adjustment .

I tried this on my DJI RS3 Pro gimbal, and the Arca-Swiss plate fit perfectly. Build quality was superb and it was easy to install the air tag. The metal casing didn't seem to affect the air tag's ability to transmit at all and tracking was just as good as normal. I definitely like how stealth the design is. No one would think there is an air tag inside the casing!

If you're an arca user, this is a fantastic way to sneak an airtag on to your kit. I use this on my son's camera, not because I'm afraid of it getting stolen, but more concerned about him misplacing it or leaving it somewhere in the house and forgetting about it.
