## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is this compatible with Windows 8? Also, does it come with a low profile bracket?**
A: Yes...I just built a new system with windows 8 and worked perfectly. Low profile bracket is included. Download driver directly instead of using CD. Download from http://www.rosewill.com/products/2291/ProductDetail_Download.htm Or call their support team either via phone at 800-575-9885 or via email at rma@rosewill.com if you need assistance.

**Q: How long is the signal range? I'm about 30 feet from my Belkin N900DB router**
A: The signal range is way over 30 feet. Mine is about 20 feet away and through two walls and my signal is fine. The only trouble is that, after two months, the adapter was suddenly unable to connect to my wireless network. This could very well be a user issue but, anyway, back to your question: Yes, it works awesome within 30 feet.

**Q: is this good for gaming? i dont want to be playing Borderlands 2 and it randomly drops the signal**
A: As long as you have a good signal strength and it's constant then you shouldn't have any issues. I once spent 17hours and 22 minutes playing W.O.W
online, so yeah I believe that it will hold up, and my system was on the opposite side of the house from where the router was too.

**Q: Will this work with windows 8?**
A: Almost everything works with windows 8.1

Didn't work at first, then worked great!

Easy to install, went right in with no problem. But when I started it I ran into lots of problems. It would not link to my home's wifi system no matter how much I tried. And yes, I know all about how to do it. I'm not a beginner at PCs - I've been using them since 1984.So I didn't know what the problems was, and I didn't want to fool with it - so I just left it in there. I had a USB wireless dongle that I was then using to connect to my home's wifi, so I had to be happy with that - though every few months, I would still try. Finally my dongle USB wireless went bad. It just died (right after the one year warranty date passed). And since this wasn't linking in, I went out to buy a new adapter. I ended up buying an expensive one - an $80 NETGEAR one that had all the bells and whistles - and again, this was a USB Adaptor for wireless. Well I connected that one, set it all up. and that one gave me problems now and then - it wouldn't keep its connections no matter what I would do.Now all this time, this Rosewell Adaptor would also appear in my wifi settings (even though I had disabled it). So one day I turned it on once again. The next time my PC booted, Instead of going to the new Netgear device, I was able to connect through the Rosewill adaptor. Got a really good connection too.I thought it was a fluke, but it kept happening. So I disconnected the new Netgear one and left the Rosewill one on. And guess what - it now worked perfectly! So I don't know why I had problems in the beginning. My System's settings were correct, it was connected properly, but it still would not work. Now it does. I'm happy. But next week I have to take out that card - I have a PCI-e USB 3.0 adaptor card I need to install - and unfortunately, I may have to unlink this adaptor. If that happens, I'll have to go back to the other adaptor and let you all know that happens.

Great speed, seems solid on windows drivers

I was really nervous about this card. The reviews are cause for concern. I installed it with some trepidation and tried to use the TP-Link Archer drivers from TP-Link's website, but they wouldn't install. They didnt detect a compatible card installed. I didnt have an optical drive handy to install the disk that came with the card, and was afraid to do so anyway based on the instability other users reported. So, I left it with the windows drivers, which I tried to update through device manager, but Windows already had the latest version it was aware of.First time I put the computer to sleep and resumed, the wifi connection was lost. I thought: here we go. But I then put the computer to sleep and resumed several times with no issues. And using speedtest, my wifi speeds were almost doubled from my previous speeds using the reasonably new wifi built into my MSI motherboard. The image I attached is from a speedtest through this card connected to my Linksys WRT1900ACS, which was pretty close to the computer. After a few days of running with the Windows drivers, I can say it seems to be pretty solid. I didnt quite see the speeds I hoped for, but I did see a big improvement over the previous wifi. Could I potentially increase my speed with better drivers? Sure. Probably. But based on the other reviews, it seems equally likely I might cause a major issue with my system, so will settle for good enough.

    Flaws make it just marginal

*by E***N on Reviewed in the United States on August 8, 2013*

First, I would give this little adapter a *** except no one would notice my comments. When it works, it is really fast and stable. The problems noted below make it, overall, an unwise buy for me.1) The instructions are written around XP and my OS is 64-bit Win7. There are only two references to Win7 in the manual: 1) that Win7 is supported and, "5.2 Connecting with Window 7You can easily access to wireless with Win7. First, move your mouse to lower right hand corner as below and click on the icon where arrow pointing to". This actually refers to the post-install wireless connection, grammer and all.2) Once the card was inserted and the first-time configuration took place, I could not successfully remove the driver and reinstall. I finally got the non-CD version from the Rosewill site and it worked OK, installing Realtek generic drivers. This appears to be an installer bug.3) The Rosewill website, which may be located in China, has no security that I can find: logging in or creating a new account is done from an unsecured http (not https) url. Risky.4) The card appeared to destabilize the network: When installed and communicating with the Rosewill WIFI router (very good device) it would crash about once per day - requiring a reboot of the router. With the Rosewell adapter card disabled and other devices (laptop, wifi-radio, printer) active the system remained totally steady. So, it is on to Asus: which has better grammar, has a good history with me, and has its own driver.
