Carlita's Secret
The character was set up in order to get a prosecution of a mob boss. Happens all the time in real life to Cops not people who are just walking on the street. Good movie

Carlita's Secret
This was a great low budget movie that takes place in South Florida. I think Eva Longoria was great in what is obviously one of her first staring roles...and the drug dealer that she kills, Miguel Diaz, He is HOT! I would like to see more of him in upcoming features as he stole the scene. I believe we may have found the next Al Pacino.

DVD mars an otherwise okay film.
This looks like a shot-on-video low-budget effort. A young woman gets involved with a drug dealer/murderer who's sent to prison. She helped him almost escape, resulting in the death of a cop, so she goes into hiding as a club dancer. Eight years later, her past comes back to haunt her.The film is decent enough to merit 3 stars, but I'm deducting one because of the dreadful DVD.What's so bad about it?I'm truly annoyed by DVDs that keep viewers as a CAPTIVE AUDIENCE, forcing them to sit through production credits or FBI warnings, unable to fast forward. It's an insulting time waster for the audience. But CARLITA'S SECRET takes it to new levels. The DVD opens with about a minute of production credits and FBI Warnings, followed by a 5 1/2 minute promo short that one is FORCED to watch. No fast foward allowed, nor does the Menu button work. Altogether, over 6 minutes of crap that one must sit through before the film. Then after the film is over, before you can go back to the Menu, you have to sit through the same 5 1/2 promo short YET AGAIN.Hey Maverick Entertainment, there's a REASON DVD players come with fast forward and Menu buttons. It's so that WE THE VIEWER can decide what portion of a DVD that we PAID FOR we choose to watch, WHEN we choose to watch it. Instead, every time I want to watch this film, I have to sit through your promo crap.Shame on Maverick Entertainment for stealing the viewer's time like this.If you get this film, you may want to pop it in the DVD player well before you plan to watch the movie. Pop it in and then get some snacks or whatever so you won't be forced to watch the promo crap. That should be a choice, not something DVD distributors force down on a captive audiece.

If you like Eva Longoria then you won't be disappointed
If you like Eva Longoria then you won't be disappointed. Her kissing of Maria Bravo makes this worth watching even if the movie isn't Oscar worthy.

♫.Have you ever had a crush that got you stuck….♫ [Title song]
In this 2004 crime drama, a young naive woman, Carlita [Eva Longoria], wants to fulfil her dream of becoming a professional dancer but becomes a participant in a drug trafficking rip-off that results in a death. Eight years later Carlita has a successful new identity [as Lexus], but can she keep her true identity secret as the past catches up?Filmed on a reputed $200,000 and limited to 15 days shooting, this is severely hampered by rushed acting and poor editorial choices which makes much of it unbelievable [lose a *]. This also takes a third of the movie to reach the real story and while the strong Latino vibe and some of the Cinematography is reminisant of ‘Miami Vice’ the Rap Music seems out of place and drowned out some dialogue. There are some plot twists but the main one seemed really obvious. Some of the plot seems confused and the reintroduction of characters could have been tightened up and explained better –there was plenty of time [lose another*].The single disc is a bare bones offering only play and scene selection. Rated 18 this has lots of swearing [about a dozen F words] as the titles go up, scenes of torture [before 4 minutes is reached] and although there is a strong Lesbian undercurrent only one well documented kiss takes place so the beer and pizza brigade will be disappointed at the lack of sex and nudity. The remainder fails to come close to the opening scenes and its mainly Eva Longoria that stops this falling further which is a shame as this could easily have been much better, but this still makes easy viewing for the most part and worth watching if you can get a cheap copy.

Eva should have bought-up every copy and burned them!
I know an actor has got to start SOMEWHERE and probably make a real turkey that they will regret in the process along the way before they become well-known (I REFUSE to use the word STAR in this case or the many others where it really doesn't apply)but in this mix of what is supposed to be a Crime Thriller without the thrills she plays a girl who has aspirations of becoming a dancer - she is a good dancer and she DOES play lip service to another girl in one or two scenes if that's all you want to see- who somehow gets tied-up in a shooting in which SHE gets blamed and has to go on the run, changing her name and trying to somehow prove SHE wasn't responsible for the hit, along the way.Made in 2004 but has all the appearances of a TV Movie from 20 years previous.I'd say save your cash.
