Ordered these books for my husband - he is into Chinese literature - but I began reading them as well - it was harder for me to follow all the Chinese names because I'm not used to them but once you get past them its like any other story about war and history of wars. My husband really enjoyed them. The artwork in the books was enjoyable illustrating what was going on in each chapter and thats something you don't get in modern books so that truly was a plus for these books

Great quality, items shipped in a timely manner, and evyerhting was shrink wrapped and well protected. Ive gotten through a the intro to book 1, and the quality of the translation feels great and reads well to a Westerner.

Please note that this is a bilingual edition, with ***simplified*** Chinese characters. Amazon does a poor job at identifying which Chinese script is used. They don't appear to be aware that many people read only one or the other. I hope you'll join me in complaining to them about this.

Very readable, several errors but don't let that sway you! The language is smooth and almost poetic. The book is lots of fun, great story, wonderful illustrations, and the introduction is a pleasant addition.

got this as a surprise birthday gift from my boyfriend and he loved it!
