Kitchen Scale, TechRise Professional Digital Food Scale Kitchen Scale Postal Scale With Stainless Steel Platform and Large LCD Display Up to 5KG(11LB) These kitchen scales are fairly lightweight, they are made of a strong looking white plastic body along with a small wipe clean digital display screen on top, there are two push down buttons. The top of the scales are metal, it looks like stainless steel so hopefully they should not discolour over time. The scales have small rubber feet on the base which help keep it from sliding around on your worktop, they are made from clear silicon rubber which shouldn't leave any marks (unlike black rubber as found on some other kitchen appliances). There is a small battery compartment on the rear which houses a readily available circular CR2032 lithium battery (battery is included just remove the plastic tab to activate).The scales come in a strong cardboard box, they are supplied wrapped in bubble wrap along with an Instruction manual and information leaflet. The kitchen scales are quite small so will not take up a lot of valuable worktop space, they are - 1" high x 4" wide x 6" long (20x110x150mm)The scales have two buttons 'Unit' and 'Tare' the 'Tare' button doubles as an on/off switch. The 'Unit' button switches the weight measurement from grams to pounds/ounces.'Tare' is handy as you can place a container on the scales which will give the weight of the empty container. Press 'Tare' which then sets the display to zero so you receive an accurate display of the weight of any contents you add to the container. So it is important that you place the container first then zero the display with the 'Tare' button (do not remove the container as that will reset the scales).These are very nice compact kitchen scales for what they cost, they are certainly nicer than the big clunky plastic scales we had before. They even have a small slot on the rear so you can hang them on a screw in your cupboard or on the wall out of harms way. As others have noted, these scales aren’t as large as you may think they are. Generally, though, this isn’t much of a problem as the display is angled to make reading the weight easier. Do bear in mind though that if you have pans/mixing bowls with large bases then this can make these unusable. My wife and I often cook in the kitchen together and frequently both need to use scales, which is why we ordered these. Occasionally, we do have to swap scales when we need to use a large mixing bowl as these scales are just a bit too small sometimes.They’re made from hard wearing plastic and the measuring plate is made from stainless steel. They’re not a premium product so, although they look quite basic, they’re functional and it seems well made. There are rubber feet on the base to stop is slipping on surfaces.Operating the scales is very straightforward as there are only two buttons. The first, TARE, is used to turn the unit on and off as well as being used to zero the reading between measuring. The UNIT button changes the measurements between grams, kilograms, ounces and pounds & ounces.The maximum gross weight is 5 kilos (11lbs), which should be enough for most of the cooking I’m likely to do.We have a more expensive, larger set of scales as well and I used them to check the accuracy of these, which seems to be spot on. Nice compact size for the kitchen

These are a very good set of compact digital scales which are very accurate all the necessary functions you would expect including a choice of units and tare.The scales come bubble wrapped and in a tough box and includes instructions and a card which offers a 6 month extension on the warranty.The digital scales are smaller than expected with the actual weighing platform being only 10.5 x 11 cm.I found that they accurately weigh items and ingredients up to the 5kg as advertised. The metal surface means it is easily wiped cleaned and it comes supplied with the CR2032 needed to power it.Although the scales were very accurate and have an angled display to better enable you to see the reading even with a bowel or container on top, to me they were better suited to weighing smaller items like post and jewellery which is what I now use them for. The only reason they got 4 stars and not 5 was because the scales have an auto switch off after 1 minute which if using while finding and adding ingredients is a bit too soon.Apart from that these are a great set of digital scales which do the job well.

This a kitchen saviour. It arrives nicely packaged and unwraps easily. Frustrated with an old mechanical scale and new style electronic scale with a small surface, this one does what I need it to do. The glass surface is large enough for your bowls and it has crisp and clean lines. I love the clear blue back light which makes the digits easy to see. I think in term of battery power this will last a lot longer than my last scales which used 2 button batteries - this uses 2 AAA. It has all the usual features of an electronic scales: metric to imperial and is accurate.A super buy.

I was really impressed with the quality of the scales - they are light but feel sturdy enough to stand up to the knocks and bumps of daily use.For me the best feature is the smooth top - it's much easier to wipe clean than the metal ring of my last scales.The other thing I like is the display - the backlight makes it much easier to read even with a large bowl casting a shadow over it.I haven't had them long enough to comment on the battery life - but at least it uses CR3025 batteries which are easy to get.All in all I'm really happy with them.

I honestly didn't expect too much of this scale when I bought it.But it is quite accurate and easy to use.The capacitive touch buttons and bright white LED screen make it very easy to use.

This is a handy little scale that is great in every way. It looks nice and also is accurate. Great for the cooks who like to cook food using that calls for exact measurements.

I like everything about my digital scale. Its clean, simple to use and just the right size. I've had no problem at all. If you have a tile counter top, you may have wobbles because of uneven tile so use a bread board or such to keep it even. If you want something that is great and does what you need for weighing this is IT.

I love that this scale is completely flat and smooth on top - the #1 reason I purchased it. You don't have to worry about flour & such getting into buttons & it can easily be cleaned. The measurement unit can also be easily changed. This is nice since many of my recipe books use different units (some are European). It's easy to zero and it's fairly small, so it's easy to store & takes 3 AAA batteries. One complaint, and it's fairly significant, is that it will randomly shut off. So if you are measuring multiple ingredients in one single bowl, and it suddenly shuts off, you lose your current measurement and as you know you cannot unmix ingrediants. I would recommend measuring ingredients separately and then once measured, add each to a large combined bowl. Other than that, this scale is perfect.

I can't speak to the long term durability of the glass, but it looks and feels much nicer than the other metal and plastic scales I have in the kitchen. The only drawback is the scale does not sit perfectly flat and wobbles a bit. Fortunately this does not affect the accuracy of the scale too much
