Keeps the lid closed until the garbage man arrives to empty the can and then recloses afterwards. So far no critters have gotten it open. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works as it should *by J***M on June 25, 2024* The media could not be loaded. This product is not what you want if you want to lock down your can and don’t have to worry about the truck dumping it. It is EXACTLY what you need if you change garbage service that has a one ma truck and they don’t want to take locks off your can. It works perfectly.For 6 days a week, if you add a simple bungee, as noted in my pics, the gravity open will not work and it’s secure if something knocks the can over. On garbage day, remove the bungee and you still have protection from critters. I adjusted mine so it’s tight but still has clearance to gravity open. Well worth the $20. Not 100% critter proof but a great compromise that will offer critter protection and allow your can to be dumped properly. ### ⭐ Doesn’t fit as described *by A***A on August 17, 2024* Received opened package and critical dimensions and sizing aren’t appropriately conveyed in description or instructions.
