Ladder is sturdy and easy to stowe and retrieve.
The compact size of this ladder means you can use it in many places where standard size attic ladders won't fit. The retrieval and stowing system works nicely and the ladder is more stable and easier to use than I expected from other reviews. Installation instruction are very clear and compete. Does take up additional floor space in the attic but that's a small price to pay. Only negative I discovered was that after ordering it I found it was available at a local building supply store for a couple of dollars less. Did save a trip to the store so maybe it was worth it!

Great ladder for small opening
Perfect for narrow attic opening. It's a little shaky until fully extended and locked; but this may be due to how it was installed. The staircase seems sturdy when climbing and would probably feel even more solid for someone on the lighter side of the 250lbs max. All in all this is a good purchase and the only ladder reasonably priced I could find to fit such a narrow opening (20"w x 28"L). It could fit an even narrower opening of 18"w x 24"L. If you've been looking for a ladder to fit a tight attic opening at a decent price, you're not going to find a better product than this one. Get it quickly, I had to wait 30 days to get it and put my contractor on hold to install because it was out of stock after purchase.

Great product, mostly
This is a unique ladder for unique situations, but if you can use a normal attic ladder that should be your first option. I have a unique situation with attic access to AC and hot water heater at a turn in a hallway with high ceilings. Been using a 12 ft ladder to access in the past and not easy. This ladder does the job. I weigh 173lbs and it is slightly wobbly, but I don't consider it unsafe for a healthy person. It is rated for 250, which is a stretch. Otherwise, ladder is made well and slides up & down easily. Installation is easy. However, the provided pole with hook is not sturdy. I need it to unlatch the door but I use a wooden round pole with a sturdy hook to bring the ladder down. The provided metal pole is small in diameter & it is hard to get a good grip. When building your opening and access door you must follow their directions ref size of wood to use or it will be more difficult. Follow the video on Amazon or the company's website over the written instructions. Also, be mindful of the storage area size in the attic if you don't have a solid floor up there and just the cross beams. All in all, worth it if you have limited space for a normal attic ladder. You will not be able to haul big items up into the attic using this ladder. I rated it a 4 out of 5 because of sturdiness & the poor pull down pole they provide.

Great attic ladder, Watch video first before you buy!
Very good quality attic ladder. Narrow, so if your a not a small to medium size person. I’m 5-8 and 170 and it is a good fit for my size. The instructions are pretty good, but you definalely have to be a little handy to install. You will need to wood trim and other tools.Make sure you have space in the attic for it to lay flat. It does not attach to the attic door. The attic door also will be hinged. Definalety watch the Werner video to see how to install before you buy.Very good ladder, but you have to know ahead of time what this requires from you to install.

It is extremely difficult to install and not at all worth the effort
Assembling the ladder itself was a bit time consuming, but not too difficult. But building the door and preparing the surrounding area was not only difficult and time consuming, but very critical, and the directions did not provide any guidance on how to do this? I started doing this myself, and then quickly realized I needed to hire a contractor. After over $500 (labor only expense) and 5 days of back and forth to Home Depot, a lot of trial and error, I think it is finally functional. But all that for a flimsy and dysfunctional ladder is not at all satisfying. Highly recommend avoiding this product to avoid what I just went through.....

Perfect for small space/ does need more support.
I was truly disappointed as I did a extensive research and this seem to be the perfect ladder for A small hallway. After paying to have it install we came to realize how unstable it's when you are going down! The individual installing it followed all the instructions, yet, the ladder will tilted to the side where there is no extra support on the top as shown on the picture. The ladder is sturdy and perfect for a small person (I’m 5’5 & 145 pounds). It’s easy to maneuver as well.I have reach out to the dealer and hopefully they can provide the other piece to provide the much need it support; otherwise I have just pay to have a hazardous ladder installed!.

Great ladder if you are not at max height.
Ladder is too hard to pull down when installed at max cieling height. I am 5'6" and The rod is too short to get a good angle on for maximum grip of the hook. The hook bends and snaps off sometimes which makes me feel like I'm going to fall over. Definitely not safe for older people. I have to stand on my tippy toes and pull at the perfect angle to get it to come down. The rod for the hook needs to be about 16" longer. My wife who is 5' cannot even reach the ladder with the hook. I sprayed the sliders with some teflon garage door lube which helped a lot but still way to difficult. I will be lengthening the rod with another aluminum tube to make operation easier. It's a little clumsy pushing the ladder back up with the hook too. The videos make it seem way easier. If you are 180lbs or heavier the ladder will probably feel a little weak flimsy. All in all it's a good ladder that could be improved some.
