A fabulous light meter.
A fabulous light meter. Very easy and intuitive to use. The menus can be customised to exclude features you don't intend to use - which makes operating the meter easier under pressure. The meter seems to do everything you can image you would need or want from a meter. A very nice feature if the screen lock button, which means you can operate the meter without accidentally changing the ISO or something - I find it extremely useful. I also like the feature where you can change the measuring button configuration - so incident meter readings are from the button on the right (as you look at the screen) and the incident measurements are left - which is the same as all my other spot meters. The only negative thing I have found is that the meter eats standard alkali AA batteries - to the point where you can go through a set in a days shooting. However, I have changed to using Lithium ones instead and the situation has improved dramatically. I have yet to run out of battery power with the Lithium ones after 4+ days of shooting. The only other thing I would recommend to other users is to put some bright tape on your meter somewhere - the body being black makes it a bit to easy to overlook in a studio setting.

One of the best investments I’ve made to date
I can’t say enough good things about this product, it’s honestly changed the way I work and improved my work a lot to the point where I don’t feel safe without it. Massively recommend it to anyone.Only bad thing about this particular model is that it can be a bit fiddly having to go into the touch screen menu to change specific settings, especially if you’re in a rush.

Excellent Speedmaster with Room for Screen Improvement
This is a great product. I use it solely for still photography, so many of its advanced features are not relevant to my needs. The touchscreen could be more responsive, though this might help prevent accidental presses. It would be helpful if the screen resolution were slightly higher to make graphs, such as flash duration, easier to read. Overall, I’m very satisfied with this product and happy to give it a 5-star review.

Excellent lightmeter
I got this because I wanted a lightmeter, to match the lighting from location to studio (especially when using green screen) - I’ve only used this for filming in dark places at the moment, however it’s a beautiful tool that’s highly functional.

Nice bit of kit
Nice and fast for sorting lighting and cine stuff.. Only gripe extra transmitter parts cost abit for triggering remote flash units out

An Essential indulgence
Despite the fact that I'm an old fashioned analogue loving codger; the Sekonic l-858d is by far the easiest and most intuitive light meter I've ever used, plus I can now meter HSS and use it to easily control my Godox lights with the optional RT-GX Godox module, meaning after many years of loyal and reliable service my old trusty Minolta flash meter IV has finally had to be retired, making way for my new, more streamlined and professional looking studio work flow.

Great
Great spot meter, really useful for difficult to read scenes as well as being brilliant for studio flash (has light ratio reading).
