Useful soil moisture meter with light intensity and air temperature above soil.
Good wireless range, readings seem appropriate. I'm setting up a new raised bed garden boxes up on legs (June Zone 9). I bought 4 small boxes (~1.7 cu ft each) that I filled with commercial raised bed "soil" where I intended to plant flowers and herbs. I then decided to level my garden area, and stuffed transplants into these boxes. I designed and leveled my garden area, but by then it was July and we got a 105-113°F heat. I have 4 larger boxes (8 cu ft each) filled with diy "soil" designed for water retention. I water the big boxes every few days when moisture drops below 60% and soil feels damp/drying by feel. However, the small box with two tomato plants needs water every 2-3 hours. I appreciate these moisture meters. I'd have killed my tomatoes without them. I wish I could use 12 probes rather than 6. Light intensity and temperature readings convinced me to set up shade cloth quickly. These are very easy to set up and use. I bought a second set I will save as a backup, and I bought an accessory pair of probes to add to the original 4 probes. Good value for cost. I tried more expensive sets that failed quickly. I'm also using stand-alone direct reading soil pH and nutrition meters.

works great, however temp sensors are inaccurate in direct sunlight
novice gardener here, needed something to aid in watering my plants. i have 1 plant in ground and others are potted but stay outside. this system is very easy to setup and comes with 4 sensors. you can have a total of 6 sensors (the other two are sold seperately). simply place in the ground close to the roots of your plant and water. you will see a meter 0 percent to 100 percent. when the moisture level drops to 10 percent, the icon will flash and warn you to water the affected plant. had this for about 2 weeeks and my plants are doing well. this is especially useful if you have alot of clay in your soil. my soil is mostly clay, and recent hot and humid weather has me watering every 2 days or so. my flowers are growing really well and i can't see any symptoms of overwatering. the only con (so far) is that when direct sunlight hit's the sensor, it reads 10-15 degrees above the acutal temprature. out of direct sunlight, the temprature is spot on. if your a novice like me, this device is worth the money. works for indoor and outdoor plants as well. go ahead and order this. your plants will thank you.I did use lithium battries, instead of alkaline ones included, you pay a little more for the lithium but they aren't as suspectible to dying in cold tempratures. not required, but nice to have/use.

I was hopeful but ended up disappointed
When I found this product I was super excited that maybe I could remember to water my plants when they needed it as I tend to forget with my busy work schedule Sadly that’s not the case, I have tried everything to get these to work; however, the moisture levels never go above 60%, even when I know for sure the plants got to much water. I have just put these readers in a cup of water to see what the outcome would be. Of course, it still read approximately 54% which logically didn’t make sense to me. At this point, if I could return this product and get my money back I absolutely would.

Easy to use and accurate. Good value compared to all the plants that have suffered under my thumb.
I was a little skeptical but these things work great! I bought a set of 4 and tried them out for a week. I expanded to 6 and then two weeks later bought another set of 4. Super easy to use. It would be nice if there was a way to specifically block sensors from a controller. I'm using two controllers and the second controller will pick-up signals from two of the sensors on the first controller. It seems that if I bought two more sensors then there would be no "crosstalk" since once a sensor is paired with a controller, it won't unpair until you take out the battery. At about $14 per sensor it's a pretty good value. They come with cheap batteries which I didn't use. The instructions are good and say to use high quality batteries. I haven't had any problems with sandy/loamy soil and I compared the moisture level with another meter. So far they're reliable and as accurate as expected.Be careful taking them apart when installing batteries. It seem like it'd be easy to damage the exposed antenna and other electronics inside.

Good idea, 2 sensors are questionable
These look very good and very convenient to have a remote reader.HOWEVER! 2 out of 4 sensors don’t seem to read correctly.I have 2 kinds of planters 4 total labeled 1 and 2, 3 and 4. I water them equally. For 1 and 2, 1 shows 47% 2 shows 21% and I give them time to equilibrate but still so different. It was working yesterday with pair 1 and 2.For 3 and 4, 3 reads zero even though I water throughly like 4 and 4 reads 30%.I understand I have to set up correctly and I believe I did and different part of the soil might have different results but shouldn’t be this different.

Great addition for extra monitoring if you have purchased the moisture meter
These are additional moisture probes for use if you have already purchased the moisture meter that comes with one probe. I now have three probes that I can monitor the moisture, light and temperature of my plants. I use these in my greenhouse so my plants do not go dry without me noticing. I use these probes along with a digital thermometer, this item lets me know that the soil is 2 degrees warmer then the air in my greenhouse. The digital monitor details give you the light, moisture, time, temperature and the number of the probe. You just click the arrow to check each probe values. It comes with stickers to label each probe.
