Mounted to concrete. Very sturdy.

Too big. Had gaps around the 4x4 post.

They do not fit 4x4 snug enough,there is at least a 1/2" gap, which water just lays inside. Also the screws they provided rust when wet. I've only had mine on for 3 days & screws are already rusting out, I have to replace them with screws that don't rust. I thought this was a great buy, but obviously not.

I purchased these black base, each base has a special matching set of screws expansion nails, the 4 x 4 post and screws look very good quality, very strong and columns of the column walls and the bottom is also very strong, this set of 4 x 4 post seems to be strong and durable enough to support the columns, my neighbor to help me together to organize my garden, he saw my purchase of this set of wood post bases, he approached me to ask for the store link, because we need to reinforce the wooden columns for our garden gazebo to avoid high winds, rain and snow!

These are good quality well made post bases, great for outdoor uses for a very specific size post. They are not adjustable, and with the variation among post sizes and advertised measurements for wood, I would bring these with you when you purchase the posts, just to make sure they fit and take out the guesswork.As a personal preference, I prefer the bases that have straight sides, making it easy to build around them if you like. These have a sloped side, so it's not as easy to put a board flush along the side as with some post bases. Even so, these are pretty nice, and the slope gives it a nice visual line for free standing posts. The cost for two bases isn't bad, especially since these are metal and will last a very long time. I would definitely order again.

These counts are for true 4x4 post and not the ordinary milled 4x4 that are smaller in size. If you use regular milled post you will most likely have a gap around the perimeter allowing water and debris to collect at the base of the post. If you buy the true 4x4 post they will fit nicely. I do recommend using a water sealing or weather proofing product on the post if you can not find true 4x4 post that are ground contact rated pressure treated post. This will make the install last much longer.

These are helpful as a finishing touch but, as you can imagine, not nearly strong enough to hold a post on it's own. You'll need something to bolt your post down first, and then slide this guy down the post to the base and attach. Nice finish, worked well and covered up the base.

Whether setting up on a concrete base or a wood base, these are a perfect post base for your 4x4's. Well made and strong, Made is high grade steel and powder coated. These should last a lifetime.It truly simplifies your installation. I will be buying more of these and stay away from the big box store!
