THINKWORK Bolt Extractor Set, 54 Pieces easy out Screw Extractor Set & left hand drill bit set, for Removing Damaged, Frozen, Rusted, Rounded-Off Bolts, Nuts & Screws

This THINKWORK bolt extractor kit is decent for the price, but don’t expect professional-grade performance. I bought it to remove a few rusted bolts on an old mower deck, and while it handled the first couple okay, the bits dulled pretty quickly after moderate use. The selection is nice — 54 pieces gives you options for different sizes and situations. The left-hand drill bits are a good touch, but I noticed they tend to walk unless you’re really precise with your drill. A center punch is a must, and one isn’t included. On the tougher bolts, especially ones that were rounded or frozen solid, the extractors either slipped or started chewing themselves up. The steel seems a bit soft compared to higher-end tools I’ve used. Bottom line: This kit is fine for light or occasional jobs, but if you’re planning to work on anything really stubborn or rusted-in-place, you’ll probably want something more heavy-duty. Not a total waste, but not a game-changer either.

Long story short, it works, but not repeatedly. This is only the second time I used it. It was able to break the stripped screw free, but it shattered when I tried to loosen the extractor from the screw. I figured this would happen eventually. I just didn't expect it to happen on the second use. The walls seem too thin for repeated stress applications, being that it has a 3/8" cavity to insert the wrench. For the price, I'd expect a little more rigidity.

I ordered this because of the positive reviews but after reading through more it looks like most of those instances were with bolts/etc with heads still where they could use the one set of extractor sockets to pull them out. I had a manifold bolt sheared off and flush with the head. Used a LH bit to bore down into it and inserted the longer style extractor bit. Barely began to torque it with a hand chuck attached, no torque modification, and the bit snapped off. Went to go bore out another hole next to the broken bit, not through it or contacting it, and that LH bit snapped off halfway through boring new hole. Needless to say spent hours running around having to purchase new cobalt drill bit set because the hardened steel bits laugh in the face of anything else attempting to extricate them. I figured out how they came up with the brand name, and that's because you gotta think about all the extra work you're gonna have to do when you use them 🤣

Great set, holds up well. I e used it several times now. Wish they still sold this exact set. The left handed bits also hold up very well if you don’t abuse them.

This kit has saved my butt 3 times now. I was worried when I bought it that the drill bits would dull quickly, but I used plenty of lube, didn't force the bits and went slow and the bits have lasted. They are quite sharp and cut thru bolts with relative ease. The easy-outs work great too. I haven't broken one yet - which is my greatest fear when removing a stuck screw. Anyway, great set. I would not hesitate to buy it again, but I don't think I'll need to. This should last a long long time.
