A nice touch
Fits perfect on my Hearthstone Clydesdale insert. Blends in well also. My shelf dimension is five & a quarter inches & it fits perfectly, no overhang. A little expensive but Made in America providing jobs for Americans, I like that. The only thing that surprised me was that you're advised to not use the water for consumption, strictly for putting humidity in the air. Guess I'll have to stick with the microwave for my tea.

Works great.
Not sure about the rice, but it's great for the fireplace insert. Nothing else would fit. It also looks really good on the stove and works well to humidify the air.

Not for heating water to drink
Not for drinking.I purchased this believing I would be able to heat water for tea on my Woodburn in stove. Disappointed to read the instructions say not for drinking. Wish it was in the product description. Missed the question/answer previously posted. It is a nice kettle otherwise.

UPDATE: SAFETY HAZARD!!! Looks great, but causes rust.
SAFETY HAZARD PLEASE READ. UPDATE 3-13-17. Bought 11-1-15 for comparison as to how long this took to develop. I've been using the kettle with the lid off to prevent it from causing the metal trim on my stove from rusting. However, there is a much more serious flaw in the design. I'm not sure if it's for aesthetic purposes or to make the manufacturing process easier, but there is an outward bump around the whole kettle. Today I came home to find that a hole had developed in the outward bump causing the water to spill out all over my stove. Fortunately, the glass on my stove door didn't shatter and cause a fire. However, my stove is now rusted where this was sitting as the water went underneath the kettle. DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF JUNK. IT'S ITEMS LIKE THIS THAT GIVE AMERICAN MANUFACTURING A BAD NAME.I plan on adding pictures later.Looks great, but water vapor seeps through where the lid rests on the kettle. As this is designed for a small surface area, the back of the kettle is against the metal surround of the stove. Over time the water vapor causes the surround to rust. Substantially. Potential solution: remove the lid. Another potential solution, buy this for half the price: Wood Stove Insert Steamer, in Black

Stick with the aluminum one.
Sent it back. Black paint was chipping when I got it, and directions cautioned it would smell when first used. The all aluminum one probably would have worked fine, but I didn't want that look.
