Top notch tape measure

Nice tool
Effective and easy to use. Not sure if it will survive drops. Nice to have the option to save several measurements.

My first choice to reach for
I find myself reaching for this rape because of its ease to use. Not sure if it could hold up in a construction environment, plastic.

One of the few digital tape displays
So many laser tape measurerers only give a digital readout for the laser - but not the tape. This one is one if the very few that gives a digital readout for the tape too. Very nice.

So Far, So Good
I have used it several times on a couple of projects and it works well. The measurement accuracy is similar to your traditional tape measure with the exception that you can see the measurement in digital form. I have also tried to use the laser and that seems to be consistent with my bosch -- my bosch does have a few other features, but does cost more. It is pretty easy to use and easy to read with memory which comes in handy. I understand the need to save as much power as possible, but I wish that there was a way to set how long to stay on before powering off to save power. Overall, it is a good addition to your toolbox, if you are in the market for a digital version of the tape measure.

Doesn't last
I've had this product for four months. Worked great for the first two months, the the laser started getting off. Now the laser is off as much as 4 inches and the digital tape (when it works at all) is completely inaccurate. See pictures.

Poor Quality
Poor Quality.First 4 inches twisted the first few times I used it, and now almost worthless. Didn't get a chance to use it until just paste the 30 day return period. Waste of $60.

Accurate digital tape and laser measure. There isn't a setting for internal measurements.
The instructions for this tape measure are mostly straightforward and it was easy to learn the various settings. When the tape measure is turned on, it starts in tape measurement mode and the button needs to be long pressed to access the laser measure mode. A feature I like is that this can automatically switch back to tape measure mode by pulling the tape outwards without having to press any buttons. Both the tape measure and laser measure are accurate and the tape doesn't skip measurements if it's used quickly which is nice. The overall build quality feels solid with a nice rubber overmolding for added protection although I'm personally not a fan of the belt clip being made of plastic. It feels durable and drop resistant similar to a regular tape measure. The screen is made of thick plastic so it doesn't feel like it can break easily and it's bright and easy to read in light or dark areas. I also like that this is rechargeable using USB-C instead of using micro USB or non rechargeable batteries. The various laser measurement modes such distance, volume, square feet and pythagorean are handy and I like that it can also remember 30 different measurements. A drawback I noticed about the memory feature is that I need to manually cycle through the memorized measurements and delete them one by one which is time consuming. It would be great if this had an option to clear the whole memory list by holding the button once.Another thing I noticed is that this can't be used to measure and display internal measurements using the tape so I need to make sure I add the width of the tape measure to my internal measurements. The width of the tape measure however, is not stamped on the bottom or sides which is inconvenient. The laser measurement mode can be used to measure from the front or back of the tape measure by holding the “unit” button so it would've been great if the same option was available for the tape. Overall, having a laser and tape measure combined in one unit is helpful and the digital display is convenient for making quick measurements.

Accurate and very cool
The media could not be loaded. Others have posted a ton of photos, So I won't add more. It's a solidly built tape measure with a ton of features. One reviewer said that they couldn't figure out how to switch the laser measuring from the front of the unit to the back and vice-versa. It's in the manual but a bit hard to understand those directions. There are 5 buttons on the side of the unit. One is labeled "units". Push and hold that button for about 2 seconds. (see video) There is a little box in the upper part of the display with a marker on the bottom back end. The tape defaults to measuring from the back to the distant object. They assume you will have the tape against a wall or other fixed surface and want to measure the exact distance to another fixed spot. With each 2 second press of the units button, the small marker moves back to front and front to back. With this product, read the manual. it's not that bad but for an English speaker, you'll have to do a bit of intuitive deciphering. Some rough translations. The manual for this unit does cover all the features fairly well (and there is a lot packed into this tape measure) unlike so many items these days that have poor or even no manuals.Pro:- It has a long laser measuring ability of up to 131 feet. and 16 feet with the tape.- Can calculate some more complex measurements like the volume of a square/rectangle.- This version of the DP 20 can save up to 30 measurements, getting rid of needing a pen and paper for many tasks. The Bluetooth version can save 50 past measurements on the app.- It can measure in a large number of ways. Metric, Imperial, and in different ways within those. Like all inches or feet and inches etc.-Testing against fixed distances, I am certain it lives up to the accuracy that is suggested of 1/16th._ The LCD is clear and the unit is easy to use with a short amount of practice.- It appears to charge fairly quickly but will not charge from a superfast charger. Just use a normal 10 or 15-watt charger block (not included). It does come with the C-type cable.- While in use, it will shut off to save power after a period of inactivity. But your work isn't lost, it's in the memory. There is a door that covers the C charging slot and the power button. It's very unlikely you can turn the unit on without knowing it.Con:- Nothing really. I don't know how much I'd trust the plastic belt clip in a work situation but other than that, it works better than I had expected. This is a very good value item that is packed with features but isn't waterproof as far as I'm aware. But no metal tape measure does well when soaked. Recommended.

Very accurate
When I first saw this tape measure, I just had to try it out. They packed a lot into this unit. Far more than I would have thought needed. The basic design of this tape measure is practical. It's thicker than the standard size for a 16-foot tape measure but that's to accommodate the laser and needed controls for this unit to do its magic. This tape measure has four modes for displaying the distance. Feet using decimal units, inches using fractions, feet/inches with fractions and metric. And then it also has functions to measure area and volume. I'm not going to get into that as I'm too old-school and still prefer pen and paper. Maybe one day I'll take the time to play with those functions. The built in laser is really nice for measuring long distances that exceed the length of the tape or just when you don't have someone available to hold the other end. Measuring the ceiling for example. The laser appears to be very accurate. I've used stand-alone lasers for measuring before. It's nice to have one built in.The rubber-coated plastic housing has a nice feel to it. It provides a good grip. But I'm not so sure about the plastic belt latch. I fear that it might easily break. Only time will tell. The tape locking mechanism is of a nice design. It holds the tape firmly, but you can still pull some tape out or push some in if need be.The black-on-black buttons are not easy to see the marking on them. Especially in low light. But in time, I will simply memorize what each button does. There is also a memory function. I've played with it but I am going to need more time to get used to all of these features. As I've said above, they packed a lot into this tape measure. It comes with a charging cable but no charging brick. The charge port is located below the power button. You have to slide up the protective cover. I like this idea better than the typical rubber plug that many devices use.The model that I received does not have Bluetooth so this one does not use an app. But there is a Bluetooth version of this unit.In conclusion, this tape measure is more suited for construction. For small projects in the shop, I would not use it. Like any tool, it has its strengths and weaknesses. But if you need to measure the distance across a room or down the lengh of a building, this tape measure is great. Especially measuring in awkward positions, this tape measure excels in that. I think it deserves a 5-star rating.

Far exceeds my expectations making measuring so much easier. Very accurate!
The media could not be loaded. I use a tape measure all the time for some of my home improvement jobs and my hobbies as well as for work where I do millwright and electrical work. I came across this tape measure that not only was a standard tape measure but also had a laser for measuring as well as a digital readout. I decided to give it a try.The tape measure arrived packaged with a USB charging cable and a well-written user manual.I did find that it was important to read the manual and familiarize myself with all of the features which are way more than I expected. You pull out the blade and you can measure as normally or look at the display on the top that shows the distance. You press the red button on the side to record the measurement. You can also point the red laser at any surface or object and press the red button and it will give you the measurement to an accuracy of 1/16th of an inch. I confirmed the accuracy with a standard tape measure.Another great feature is the ability to measure area and volume.Using the button on the side you select the area or volume options of rectangular or triangular shapes and you then take each of the measurements according to the image on the LCD screen. After taking the measurement it calculates the volume or area automatically. I demonstrate this in the video I have attached as I am measuring the volume of a box.Up to 30 readings are saved as well and you can access any previous measurements by holding the history button. The blade is nylon coated so it is durable and will not rust. The blade is 16 feet long and the laser will measure up to 131 feet. This will cover just about any measurement you need to do.There is a USB charging port on the back of the measuring tape and once charged it will operate for up to 5 hours before recharging.I am very happy with this tape measure. It has made measuring so much easier and has far exceeded my expectations. I strongly recommend this for anyone who needs a measuring tape for work or home as it will save you a lot of time and headaches. The thing I like the best is the laser measurement since I can now measure longer distances without having to use a huge tape measure and an assistant to hold one end. I can do it myself in seconds. The price for such an advanced tool is great and good value for your money and I do recommend it.
