very nice boot....
great boot fits very well...... Wore them for a few days before i wrote the review. If i had not i would have gave them a four star rating because of the lace system. Never had this kind before. They grip ice very well without studs. The boot also does hold and retain heat pretty well as long as your not sitting around too long. haven't just sat around with them. will let you know later in their lifespan. The look of the boot is nice too. Good for going out and also for outdoor activities.... Snowshoeing, hiking, all around late fall to early spring. One of the best parts is how light they are and the feeling of wearing shoes but with the warmth of boots. Never owned a pair of Vasque but would buy and recommend anytime. the forward step is nice though i thought i would hate it. very nice feature. last but not least the dry flap. great feature and works well. zipper on it moves freely and does not bind up. For sizing i wear a 11 w and i ordered a 12 d and they fit perfectly.

Great value in an "agile winter performance boot"
I have put these nimble boots through a number of outdoor shakedowns and so far live up to Vasque's performance claims. In sub freezing temps on flat terrain or 1000' (non-technical) climbs that included wet and powder snow these puppies kept my feet dry and warm. Soles are rigid enough to properly support my feet in the snow with or without snowshoes and have pretty good grip on their own in the white stuff. The shaft is supportive without being uncomfortable but I did have to install insoles with better arch support. I'm sold on the Kevlar single-pull lace system for it's adjustability and quick deployment. That lace cover actually works well and saves the bother of low gaiters. And speaking of gaiters...I do wish these boots had a loop to catch the lace hook on my tall gaiters since, well, there are no exposed laces upon which to hook. Understand, too, that these are meant for more active pursuits so, with 200g insulation, you will at least get cold toes if you are sitting in the tree stand. Although I haven't tried yet, the toe box is roomy enough that I think I could sneak a small heat pack in there to keep my toes warm while standing around in camp. I had to size up .5 but this seems common with insulated boots.

A nice wide boot for winter hiking
A nice wide boot for winter hiking.Pros:* External gaiter keeps laces and the bottom boot dry (note the waterproof membrane is part of the inner bootie, not the outer layer)* Good winter tread and under-foot cushioning* Fairly lightweight* Moderate level of insulationCons:* Lacing system - First thing I did with these boots was remove the laces and use normal boot laces (don't remember the length though).* "Heel locking" - Although the boot is pretty well setup for wide feet, it still seems to be better suited for someone with more of a higher arch. I have a hard time locking my foot down in these boots, but I was able to solve the problem by taking some of that craft foam (the stuff kids use for arts and crafts) and placing it under the laces over my instep to reduce the boot volume.

Waterproof and warm, but with soft soles
They work very well in snow, but not for snowsheing. The rubber sole is not supportive/stiff enough, and after a few miles, my feet start hurting. They were dry and warm,, but unconfortable.Maybe for walking on a few inches they will be fine , but not so much with snowshoes

Great for fat biking but lacing could be better
I bought these for fat biking in the winter in Colorado. I'm very satisfied with the fit and finish. I'm size 13 with a foot that is wide at the front and quite narrow at the heel. The 47s fit just fine, even with a thick sock. These are ideal for biking as they are quite narrow in profile, not bulky like many winter boots such as the L.L.Beans and others. The lugs are shallower than Vibram soles but still adequate. With a thick sock, they are warm for me down to 10-15 degrees F. If you do a lot of riding below that (yes, you dudes in Minn.) then these are probably not warm enough. The only flaw are the laces. As other reviews have pointed out, it can be very difficult to get your feet in and out, as the laces don't loosen up enough to allow the gusset to expand. You can substitute some longer laces. Or you can do as I did which was to (very carefully) cut and open up the second set of boot hooks so that the laces can be undone. The top hooks are already that way - I don't know why they didn't make all three sets of hooks that way? Once you do that, things can expand more.

Good pair of boots
Before these, I didn't own a pair of boots. I'm more of a sneakers person and would use them through the winter. After lots of research and seeing that all of the common branded boots were sold out in my size, I came across Vasque. While I haven't heard of them, people were saying good things about their boots. I decided to purchase this pair and I'm glad I did. I wear a pair of black Under Armour socks with these and the boots fit very well to size. As someone else mentioned, I was worried about the zipper in the front, but it's holding up very well so far. The Kevlar laces are my favorite part, it makes lacing them up very fast since all I have to do is tighten them up.They keep my feet warm enough. One thing about keeping your feet warm, if the core of your body is cold, then it will take that heat from your extremities. There's not much any pair of boots can do about that. So these help me retain the warmth that is there, but I still have to keep the rest of my body warm with good clothing. In the end, I like these boots and would recommend them to friends.

MUCH SMALLER THAN NOMINAL SIZE!
WAY smaller than the nominal size, at least in 13. I got the orange version-I really like the design. I wear a size 13 in every other brand of shoe or boot I own, and ordered a 13 in this boot. I can't even get my feet halfway into these! Even a 14 in this boot style will not fit me!!!Vasque somehow completely screwed the pooch on designing this one, the USA size 13 I bought was compared to other (normally/CORRECTLY sized) boots, the interior dimensions corresponds in width to a USA size 10, length to a size 12.But I still REALLY like the design. Which I will never get to wear.Darn.
