an interesting collection
There are many of the standard book quotes here, but quite a few missing, or perhaps is was post print? Where is Neil Gaiman or Terry Pratchett on their love of books and libraries to name just two. I loved seeing Robertson Davies a couple of times, but I have so many ‘better’ quotes from him. Ditto Atwood! Books are personal of course, and book lovers and writers are an interesting quirky bunch. It is an enjoyable read.

If you love writers, writing and quote books this volume is a must have for your personal library.
I have been a lover of quote books all my life and I have a large collection of various kinds of quote books. I purchased this one (The Quotable Book Lover edited by Ben Jacobs & Helena Hjalmarsson with a forward by Nicholas A. Basbanes) on Amazon for a bargain price. This 241 page soft cover book is a fantastic volume of numerous kinds of quotes all focused on writers, readers, collectors and other lovers of the written word. This text is organized into ten sections and includes quotes on the following topics: In praise of books, on writing, autobiography and biography, reading, libraries, literacy, censorship and the destruction of books, publishing and publishers, literature and collecting books. There are quotes from a wide range of individuals such as Ernest Hemmingway, George Orwell, Ezra Pound, Woody Allen, Maya Angelou, William Faulkner, Thomas Jefferson and numerous other legendary people. If you are a writer and a lover of books, especially quote books, this volume is for you. It is a keeper.Joseph J. Truncale 5 Stars. Joseph J. Truncale (Author: Zen Poetry Moments: Haiku and Senryu for special occasions).

Tedious at best
Don't bother. You've seen many of the quotes a hundred times before, and those you haven't aren't that interesting to begin with, which is why you haven't seen them before.

Not very easy to find quotes
Physical copy of this book might be better -- Kindle version not well laid out to easily find quotes if you just want to peruse.

Curious Volume of Forgotten Lore
If you are looking up a book like, "The Quotable Book Lover," you are the curious sort. You chase randomness in Wikipedia. You follow links that are filled with interesting, but not necessarily useful facts. Now you want to read quotes by famous people about books. Many of these are forgotten in the great pile of great books these men and women have written, but each is fantastically delicious."I took a speed reading course and read 'War and Peace' in twenty minutes. It's about Russia." -Woody Allen"Nothing stinks like a pile of unpublished writing." -Sylvia Plath"There are books of which the backs and the covers are by far the best parts." -Charles DickensYou get the idea. These are well organized, section-by-section, cleanly designed. Leave a copy of "The Quotable Book Lover" in the bathroom, and leave each morning feeling smarter.--Anthony Trendlanthonytrendl.com
