Works perfectly for rats/mice
My small back yard had become a war zone, and the mice were destroying my plants. Not any more!I have several bird feeders in my small back yard, and the birds and squirrels drop a lot of seed on the ground. I'm OK with the squirrels, as I work from home (thanks COVID) and they are my entertainment. The mice are attracted to the seed...so I created the problem. I did some research and tried lots of other options, including switching to spicy seeds with capsaicin (expensive), paying a professional to trim the tree (very expensive), planting marigolds and that (supposedly) deter the mice, putting the feeders away at night (ugh), closing off the entry points, using rodent deterrent spray, sprinkling hot pepper flakes & ground cayenne on the ground, etc. None of this fixed the issue with the mice, and my plants were being eaten down to the ground.I bought this nifty little device and on the first night BINGO! I won the first battle. The device arrived on time, well packaged, with rechargeable batteries already installed, a small screwdriver, a power cord, and both pieces of the stakes. The instructions were easy to follow and provide a list of what the different settings do and how to adjust. I set it in direct sun for about 4 hours to charge, and it lasted all night on setting 3.After blocking off the other favorite entry points along my white vinyl fence (with bricks) I set the device on high sensitivity and setting 3 and positioned it about 3 feet away from the base of the oak tree. This is the spot that I have observed dozens of mice coming & going and wanted to disrupt their established trail, and it's directly under the bird feeder pole and in front of the flowers the mice prefer to eat. The tree branches touch the tree in the neighbor's yard (we live in condos with small yards) so this is the mouse super-highway. I turned the device on at dark, went inside, left the yard light on, and waited. The mice appeared as usual, but the show they put on was highly entertaining. The motion sensor worked exactly as designed. The mice came down the tree, approached the device, immediately tripped the sensor, and went scrambling back up the tree. I watched through a window for over an hour with the yard light on, and no matter how many times the mice attempted to approach the base of the pole, or flank the device to get to the flower bed, they tripped the motion sensor and went running up the tree. I turned off the yard light and watched for a few minutes, and could see them continue to trip the sensor (it has a dim red light when activated) and run up the tree. I had a good laugh and went to bed.In the morning I went out to hang the bird feeders and inspect the scene. The device was still active and I could see the red light come on when I tripped the sensor. The birds had been sitting on the ground directly in front of it and didn't care about the ultrasonic sound (that I couldn't hear). The mice clearly had NOT been feasting on my plants or digging holes in the mulch.I assume the mice will continue to test the capabilities of the device and will figure out how to enter the yard from a different spot (the fence gate has significant gaps), so I am going to purchase additional devices and place them strategically in the yard to cover all of the flower beds.I can see why some other reviewers didn't have the same results I got. I have a small yard with a 6 foot privacy fence, and the mice have a clearly established path. I can easily find other entry points and close them up, or place a device to deter. I treated this exercise like I would when disrupting ants that are invading the house...find the access point and the source, then disrupt it. This might not work as well, or at all, in a large yard that is completely open to critters. I will have to see how long the device works after a few rainstorms, or being exposed to the Florida humidity and salt air over time. But for now, this thing gets 5 stars!!

Squirrel repellent
This product does not work, but because I spent so much money on them they are on the front lawn. they are a conversation piece everyone ask what they’re for. Apparently they work on humans because they hurt their ears. Some dogs some cats no squirrels the squirrels are still here and yeah and I’m out 80 bucks so there you go.

Sturdy build and repels groundhogs well, but flawed design
The build quality of this ultrasonic repeller is quite sturdy, made with a very strong plastic material. It came well-packaged, the manual is written well albeit quite lengthy, and it has decent weatherproofing in its design, though the waterproofing could be a bit better given how this is a device meant to stay outdoors. The stake is very firm as well, but I had a hard time combining the pieces and inserting it in under the device. It required more physical effort than it probably should have. Sticking the stake into the ground proved pretty difficult too since it's so thick. Avoid using the stake if you don't have to - better off hanging it somewhere instead, which it supports doing. The product design isn't great, both in looks and the fact that the knob behavior is unclear without reading the manual. There are multiple modes and behaviors, but the dials themselves don't make it clear. At least the design is functional in its good use of a large solar panel on top and a wide angle sensor. You have the option of running it off of charged batteries instead if you want (or need due to lack of sun). It even includes the batteries already, which is appreciated, though according to the manual the battery takes an obnoxiously long 24 hours to charge.I've been testing it for some weeks to keep out a family of groundhogs that have been tearing through our backyard. So far, it seems to have actually been working or helping, since I haven't seen any of the groundhogs since I put it in. However, this is one of those 'negative state confirmation' issues, where it's almost impossible to know if it's doing its job well and working correctly, or if it's sheer coincidence you see no evidence to the contrary. It hasn't worked at repelling large animals like deer, which have still been around, but that wasn't my goal and it seems like that would always be true for a device like this, despite what was advertised in the description, so it doesn't bother me much. The ultrasonic sound waves are supposed to emit only forward, but they do leak behind the device slightly, so if it's quiet and you're close enough behind the device, you can still hear its sound. It might not be a bad enough leak to cause issues if you don't want the sound emitted to behind the device. Some of the frequencies can be heard when you dial in to it, and it can be quite loud and piercing, so it's definitely emitting ultrasonic waves. The sensor seems to be very sensitive, and I like how you can adjust the effective range at which it detects.Overall, this is a solid solar ultrasonic repeller, but with the caveats in its design & function, it's not quite worth it at this price. I'd recommend it if it goes on sale, but otherwise, it's probably better to go for some cheaper one, or a higher-quality one at this price.

Actually works
Great product for price. Worked faster than advertised. Kept stray dogs and cats out of yard.

Worked well until it didn't
We used this in a raised garden that was in our open lawn. It worked well to repel deer, rabbits, and squirrels from eating the garden vegetables where they had been eating previously. It lasted about 21 months using the built-in solar power until it stopped working entirely. I expected it to last longer for the price I paid.

No more unwanted visitors!!!
We recently Bought a new house and apparently some other animals moved in with us. My friendly neighbor tipped me off that he saw a skunk headed towards the kick out of my bay window two mornings in a row. Sure enough I spotted it late one morning and I pinpointed the location of the den. We have also seen a few chipmunks around as well. Ugh?! Unsure what we should do...so I asked A few friends and they saw it said that they were able to buy animal repellent/deterrence from Amazon. I needed a passive / fast solution. Order this same day and deployed it the next night. Hooray!!! Although solar powered I plugged it in as it was getting dark and wanted to make sure it had power overnight. The next morning I pulled the plug and went full solar. I honestly have not seen or heard of the skunk or chipmunks since the night I installed it. I love the fact that it is motion activated and that I can focus it one spot. This way I’m not upsetting every neighborhood dog or pet. Works great for me and I’d definitely highly recommend it!!!
