3 Film Box Set: Taking Of Pelham 123/Inside Man/Bone Collector [DVD]

This is great value and at £3 per movie should be snapped up as all three films are good and two of the three are amongst Denzel's best."Inside Man" is an excellently written and tightly filmed and edited thriller - do not miss a single second as every frame counts in understanding the final ending. A great cast delivers consistently and you will end up wanting to watch again to check your understanding of all the story's twists."Taking of Pelham 1,2,3" by the late Tony Scott is my favourite of the three - much better that the original book and film in the 70s and nicely updated for the 21st century environment. Again an excellent cast, script etc. but the key is the twisted relationship that develops between Denzel as the human and flawed NY metro traffic controller and Travolta as the kidnapper's gang leader, in for me one of his best roles ever.Finally, the "Bone Collector" a type of movie that on release was daring but many years later seems a style that has been done to death, especially with the various CSI shows on TV. A serial killer that leaves clues to be found, Denzel as a bed ridden forensic policeman who his force still needs to access his detective skills, and in an early starring role Anegline Jolie as the rookie cop who acts as his eyes and ears at the crime scenes, all leads to an OTT showdown with the murderer with a grudge being revealed. I must admit I had lost interest by halfway but stayed the distance simply to see how it all unfolded. Denzel is good as always but Jolie probably takes the plaudits on offer in this dated movie.
