Good quality old-school switch
I got these to add switches to a couple of corded electric window candles for the holidays. I originally started looking at rotary switches, but was dismayed that they all were cheap designs relying on pressing the wire onto a spade and hoping that it will cut through the wire coating and make a decent connection. These switches are old school – using screw terminals. Unscrew the clamping screw, slip the wire into the hole under the screw in the clamping block, and tighten the screw to lock the wire in place. Yes, you need to have wire strippers in addition to wire cutters to do the job but that’s a small detail. These do have small screws for everything, but anyone with a decent set of tools should be able to deal with them. These switches also have small clamping bands to lock the cord on each side of the switch so it doesn’t get pulled out if someone yanks on the cord. It took only a few minutes to install on each cord, and they work great. I couldn’t be happier. Glad I bought the 5 pack – a few extra switches for the next job. The packaging has a zip-lock top for re-sealing the remaining switches in the package. I highly recommend these switches. As a note, these are technically DPST switches, and the cord openings are fairly large. While I didn’t do this, it does appear as though one might actually be able to wire up two separate cords through the switch. The instructions show wiring either a single switched line or two switched wires. I chose to switch both the hot and common wires in my plug rather than switching only the hot line and passing the common wire untouched on the inner side of the switch.

Clear plastic was even better than original!
Worked like a charm and easy to install. Perfect replacement for built=in switch which was loose on one connector. Since it was melded into place I had to break the plastic to see the problem and replace the destroyed plastic switch. Perfect! It was actually better than the original with an on/off reading on the toggle!

Great replacement switch
I needed to replace an online switch on a lamp and this product did it perfectly. Easy to install with a little mechanical ability. Works like it should.

Easy to use but small
Super easy, open it up, take out the cord keeper and screws, loosen the screws that allow contact put your wire under and around if possible and tighten. Put keeper in place and put cover back on. My only issue was the contact area is very small and the contact screws are tiny. I had trouble getting the wire in and underneath and they didn’t seem to get a great bite. But with them tightened down I couldn’t pull the cord out and with the keeper over it, it was very solid . Worked perfectly when plugged in. Side note when you take the cord keeper out you will have to take the screws completely out and flip it over before putting it back. It has a curved area to go over your cord. Otherwise happy customers so far since they now have switches for their hanging ball lights. 4 stars only because the work area is tiny.

No more thumb wheel switches!
My old table lamp had a thumbwheel switch. Now, imagine yourself woking up at 2am in the morning for some reason and fumbling with the switch for the light. And boom, AFCI (Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter) trips. I was dumbfounded because it was the first time I've ever tripped the AFCI. These old sliding contact switches are terrible!I immediately looked for a replacement switch and found this.I'm using it slightly differently than intended because I only cut the hot wire (smaller blade on the plug). To do this, I removed the screw terminals from one side, temporarily pulled the switch out and cut off one of the plastic legs from under the switch. This way, I could route the uncut wire through one side. You shouldn't do this if the plug is not polarized, since you won't know which wire will be hot and which wire will be neutral.I like the quality of wire terminals, and the switch contacts look good also. Best of all, it works great!

Quality Switch
A very well-made switch. Not mentioned in the ad, this is a double-pole switch, i.e. breaks both sides of line. Takes a bit longer to assemble, 10 screws, versus 4 in the switch I replaced.
