Decent set for the money.
I bought this set so that I can reprofile and sharpen my hatchet and axe. So far they're holding up well. They're not as hard as maybe a higher quality set but they get the job done. They work well for what they're made for. The handles are probably pvc or some other material. They fit well with a double tap and stay on while in use. I've got no complaints. I'd this set again.

It works!
Arrived in good condition, the heavy metal works great for filing and the wrapping make it easy to transport. My only issue is that the plastic handles are too delicate and can't handle the metal. They rip open and can never be reused again for another piece and they are too small and light to actually be used in relation to the file. However, the files themselves are fantastic so who cares? They've worked like a charm. I've been able to file down wood, plastic, even paper mache. Well worth the price.

High Value, Low Cost
I bought this set to work on wood though most of the tools would also be great for fine metal work. To give a price comparison, I recently purchased a single Stew Mac guitar fret file that looks and feels very similar to one of the smaller files in this set. That single file cost me more than 2 times as much as this entire set, so in terms of value, you're getting much more than you pay for. Even if you don't enjoy the hard plastic handles, it should be fairly easy to find a universal handle for all these pieces at an affordable price or even just carve your own set of handles, which is what I plan to do for the files that will see the most use. Overall, I am very satisfied with the quality of this set. I would recommend lubricating the set on arrival to ensure durability. Highly recommended.

Great files
Great set of files, good high carbon steel w/ well cut . Great for what I paid & Great assortment. Good feel when using. Keep em clean, dry, & Store them Properly they will last very long time.Great!!!!! Love Neiko for quality vs. price for certain tools ie. Used to be better prices

Absolutely a good product
I don't like the package case it comes in. It's cheap and poses difficulties to get the tools out. The tie strap, well I see that breaking after a few uses. It is the contents, the physical tools I like and that's the important thing.

Decent value
Realize that this is a case of you get what you pay for. These aren't precision tools, they are of fair quality but high value for the price you pay for them. Good for random projects for the average homeowner/craftsman. I've used them a handful of times, the handles aren't great but work. I don't regret my purchase and would recommend for non precision work.

Is their Quality Control slipping?
I loved the first set of Neiko files I ordered, I work in a display shop and have used those files, bought over 3 years ago, on wood, metals, and plastics and they worked well. Over time they have stated to show wear so I bought another set, I was very happy with the first set - the price, durability, and quality. The set I purchased recently has defects that my first set did not have - the top file in the picture, I realize it is hard to see, has a small spot near the end where the metal is pitted and no grooves were engraved into the metal - it will not really affect the utility of the file. The rasp shown in the bottom of the picture has defects that will affect how it is to be used unless I modify it. Again I know it may be hard to see in the picture but the burrs on the curved surface extend below the surface of the flat side such that they will interfere with using the flat side which is less harsh that the curved surface. If I was to try and use the flat surface the burrs from the opposing surface would scratch the material I was attempting to file. Only one item in the set is not usable, the pricing is still good, the metal quality seems to be the same, the files I have used work well - I am just underwhelmed with the quality control of this set as compared to the first set. I would give the first set a 4-5, I would give this set a 2 so my review rating is in the middle. I hope that the next set has better QC than this set.
