INCREDIBLE BOOST UPGRADING FROM RYZEN 7 1700 TO RYZEN 7 5700 X3D
I play a lot of PC games and ran into FPS issues when playing the game "Valheim." At this point in time, I thought the GPU was the only thing that made a performance difference with PC games. I had a Ryzen 7 1700 paired with an ASUS 2080Ti OC and could run most modern games on high at around 100FPS when the 2080Ti originally released. Fast forward 4 years and I run into a game that is more CPU dependent and demanding in Valheim than anything I have ever ran on my PC prior. Needless to say, I was getting sub 60FPS in busy areas of the game and it felt unplayable. My good friend suggested to me that my system might be bottle-necked by my CPU, essentially saying I am paying for performance that my machine cannot access in my GPU. So since I have an AM4 chip, I did a search on what were the best upgrade options. The clear winner I saw was the 5800 X3D, however the price was not a winner (~$600 at the time of writing this review), so I went with the much more affordable 5700 X3D with a 5% performance decrease for $270. For the price to performance ratio, there is no CPU in the 5700 X3D's class.Even though I now have incredible FPS in all of my games (Valheim going from ~30FPS to ~120+FPS), pure FPS increase in games is not the only benefit I received from upgrading to the 5700 X3D. My old 1700 would not allow me to run my RAM over 2667MHz or enable "gaming boost" mode on my motherboard. Whenever I would try, my system would restart claiming that the configuration failed. After upgrading to the 5700 X3D, I am able to run my RAM at 3200MHz and also enable "gaming boost" mode on my motherboard with no issues. It seems my old 1700 did not have the horsepower to push those frequencies. If you are in the market for an AM4 CPU, going with the 5700 X3D is a great choice. Depending on where you are upgrading from, you will see either a significant upgrade in quality, or a respectable one. Since I am upgrading from a 1700, my experience has been incredible. The 5700 X3D CPU unlocked performance that I was paying for previously in my GPU, but could not access due to my CPU bottleneck. I have read some reviews claiming even "downgrading" from a 5800 shows some improvement. YMMV. I can only claim that if you are upgrading from a CPU around the Ryzen 7 1700's power level, this one is an easy decision - get this CPU! The 5700 X3D is a workhorse and shreds anything I throw at it. Five stars.

Solid Upgrade – Great Performance!
I installed the Ryzen 7 5700X as an upgrade for my AM4 system, and it works flawlessly. The CPU arrived well-packaged, installation was quick, and it booted up with no issues. Performance is fantastic — fast, cool, and stable. In games and multitasking, it’s a noticeable step up from my previous CPU. Paired with my RTX 3060 Ti, everything runs super smooth. Temps are great too, even under load.If you’re still on AM4 and want a solid upgrade without switching platforms, this chip is 100% worth it. Highly recommended!

Great CPU - but pass for a better one
Context: I upgraded my GPU to a 6750XT. My old CPU (Ryzen 5 3600) was bottlenecking the GPU pretty hard. For example, Helldivers II was 60% GPU and 99% CPU usage prior to the upgrade.Pros:- Price is great.- Easy install these days.- Fast for the price.Cons:- While this CPU is great, I wish I would’ve just paid a little more and gone with the 5800X3D. It isn’t much more expensive and would’ve been worth the performance.

Blazing Performance – Beyond Expectations!
The AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D has completely blown me away. It’s beyond expectations — my PC feels so much faster than I ever imagined it could be. Every game, every application runs buttery smooth, and the responsiveness is just incredible. What’s even better is the peace of mind knowing I won’t need to upgrade anytime soon — this chip feels future-proof for years to come.Huge thanks to AMD for producing such an amazing processor. You’ve truly outdone yourselves with this one!

"Downgraded" from 5900X to 5700x3d...
Quick point upfront... I was refreshing the 5700x3d page as it was seemingly selling out, then getting restocked. The non-Amazon sellers seem to be selling used ones, and at higher prices than Amazon charges for brand new. Be sure to keep an eye out for when Amazon themselves are selling it, as I personally wasn't going to take the chance with a used one from resellers.Due to being so late in the game on the 5800x3d, it's almost impossible to find without paying an arm and leg for it. I couldn't bring myself to pay the same or equal price of an 7800/9800x3d simply due to them not being made and thusly having super low stock or sketchy resale from China. If I was going to spend that money I might as well just total upgrade to AM5.I was slightly worried that the vcache increase wasn't going to be as huge factor as it was seemingly made out to be for the game(s) I was playing.People were right though, the vcache is amazing for gaming. My FPS increased and stopped stuttering even with a large amount of badly core-spread addons on top of the game to the point I had to get used to playing it with that much FPS, it felt weird due to how smooth it was.If your primary goal is to run games at higher settings it absolutely was worth the "downgrade" for me. I have been converted, I don't think I'll switch back from non-x3d CPUs until something comes along to replace it.tl;dr Absolutely worth every single penny.
