ChefEFX Stainless Steel Digital Meat Thermometer

I bought this meat thermometer because it was advertised as "wireless". Wireless means that there is a transmitter and a receiver. In a meat thermometer the probe would have the transmitter and the reading unit would have the receiver. There would be no wires connecting the two so you could read the temperature of the meat without opening the door of your smoker. I was greatly dissappointed when I got this thermometer in to find out that it was just a regular meat thermometer with a super small display window and you can't even leave it in the smoker. You have to probe the meat after you open the door to the smoker causing you to have to leave the door to the smoker open too long. I haven't used it yet. I assume it will work as a meat temperature probe, but it is definitely not a "WIRELESS" meat thermometer. I feel like I've been ripped off.

Easy to operate. The face is a little small..my eyes aren't what they used to be...would have liked a larger face

Of the three buttons on the device, only one worked and that was the on/off button, the hold didn't work at all and the c/f button only worked intermittently. Maybe I just got a defect unit. I returned it for replacement, so we will see how the next one works.

Inexpensive compared to others and does what it's supposed to do.

As all meat thermometers, never found one really accurate, and I cannot give this one any different than a five dollar one

First review I've ever written. If I could give zero stars I would. This meat thermometer literally did not last an hour let alone a day - it froze and fell apart minutes after use. Spend your money elsewhere...this is probably the most useless product you could buy on Amazon.

Finally, after two disappointing adventures with meat thermometers that were both fragile and inaccurate, I now have a terrific kitchen tool in this digital/instant read gem. Thank you Nutracraft!
