Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero (1997) [Blu-ray]

Sub-Zero is really a two part episode from Batman: The Animated Series from the 90s which focus alot on Barbara Gordon and one of the underrated complex villians of the Batman universe Mr. Freeze who steals what he needs in order to save his beloved wife's life who suffers from a rare disease. This was one of my favorite episode as a kid because it focus on Batgirl and I like how Dick and Barbara date and fight crime as civilians and also as their alter egos. One of my favorite scene was the date scene when Dick fights off Mr. Freeze's minions trying to kidnap Barbara and tries to chase them down on the bike scene. I miss the cool action scenes in the cartoons from the 80s and 90s. It was a great story.However, I really purchased this DVD for one of my favorite Batman movies Mask of the Phantasm. This is both a masked crusader movie and an origin Batman movie. It focus on the relationship of Bruce and his former flame Andrea. The one woman he would have given up his cape to marry. The movie perfectly blends the past and present day. Even though it's an animated movie, the issues were adult and it treated the fans with intelligent. The score was stunning. Animation beautifully drawn. The backdrop of Gotham City gorgeous. This was the first animated Batman movies and it was a masterpiece.Some of my favorite scenes were the cute meeting between Bruce and Andrea, Bruce fighting off thieves from stealing and when he leaps on top of that motorcycle to punch the bad guy. Bruce's inner conflict of wanting to avenge his parents but still wanting to live a normal life. The two timer old timer scene with the Joker or the love scene between Andrea and Bruce. This movie had so many awesome scenes I still relish from my childhood to adulthood.One of the best movies period with an ill fated love and bittersweet but poignant ending and an amazing score and soundtrack capturing the feel of the movie. If you love The Dark Knight, this is among the best Masked Detective stories

Growing up in the late 80s and early 90s Batman: The Animated Series (TAS) played a huge role on in my childhood. Batman TAS was the Batman I grew up with. I remember trying to catch every espisode of this cartoon, that I could. Batman TAS was a revolutionary carton and broke many barriers for its time, it's dark tone and atmosphere, and the fact that guns actually shot bullets (not laser beams) set this cartoon apart from most of the cartoons of this era, and the cartoons I grew up with. After a couple of years of dominating the TV, this series was ported to the Theatrical cartoon movie format with "Mask of the Phantasm." At the time Disney animated/musical features dominated this market, so it was cool and revolutionary to have something else to go see. I never saw this movie on the big screen and wish I had.The Mask of the Phantasm deals with a vigilante, named The Phantasm, murdering key members of the Gotham criminal/ mob underworld. I do not want to give too much of the story away, but Batman has to deal with this character, in order to stop him, and avoid the blame that he himself is taking for the murders, due to the their relatively similar appearance. On top of that a love from Bruce's past has come back, and Batman faces the choice of either maintaining his crusade against crime or giving it all up to live a "normal life" with the woman he has always loved. The acting, animation, and writing are excellent, keeping with the quality of Batman TAS. This movie is kind of like Batman TAS's version of Long Halloween, which is pretty awesome.Subzero, the second film in this set, was a direct to video release. Released during the "New Adventures of Batman and Robin" era of Batman TAS, this movie was released after Mask of the Phantasm, and to be honest I don't remember it much at all. Keeping with it's namesake, this movie centers around Mr. Freeze. In this story, Mr. Freeze who is living in the artic with his cryo-frozen wife, eskimo boy, and two polar bears, have their peaceful life interrupted, when a research submarine un-intentionally surfaces in their lair, destroying Mr. Freezes tranquility, and endangering Mr. Freeze's cryo-frozen wife by destroying her freezing chamber. As a result, Mr. Freeze retruns to Gotham City to get the materials to save his wife, and crime and mayhem ensues. I really like the insight into the character of Mr. Freeze you get with this movie, and who better to do it than the people/series which redefined this character. The Mr. Freeze we know today was created by Batman TAS, even though the character was originally conceived in the 1960s. In my opinion this movie is the weaker of the two, but still a pretty decent watch.My only complaint with this set is the lack of special features, this set is pretty bare bones when it comes to this department.I recommend this for any Batman/ Batman TAS fan. It amazes me that after 15 or so years, these stories seem as fresh as they were when they came out. For anyone who wants to tap into or try out Batman TAS, this set is a good place to start, and will open the door to a great part of the Batman universe.

バットマンテレビシリーズにミスターフリーズが登場した回とオリジナルのエピソードバットマンビヨンド出演回のお話が入っていた。残念ながら英語のみしか音声がなく、字幕もない。ただし、簡単な英語なので理解はできる

Extrañamente inédita en España en DVD, aunque fue lanzada en VHS, es una de las mejores películas animadas de Batman, y tiene al mejor Mr. Freeze, el de la serie animada de los 90. La historia es interesante, y tiene buen suspense, aunque lo mejor es el retrato psicológico que hace del villano, alguien digno de compasión y lástima, que actúa para salvar la vida de su esposa, en oposición a su cómplice, guiado por la codicia.El audio no es castellano, pero tiene subtítulos en inglés y español.Aunque diga región 1, es multizona, y en España se lee perfectamente.

Este producto es solo si tienes la intencion de tener las peliculas animadas en la coleccion sin ocupar mucho espacio ya que contien un solo disco por ambos lados...solo cuenta con audio original en ingles y es region 1..

La edición de Reino Unido de esta película viene en español latino, nada de castellano, pero como no ha sido editada en España, es una buena opción para hacerse con ella.
