This bad boy is amazing. The handle system is next level. Attention: TOOL ONLY. Don't be tool like me and buy this without batteries and a charger. I was the tool so you can laugh at me. So the ease of use of this is awesome. The on off and speed control right at the top of the hand grip handle. Perfect for thumb control. This unit is decently weighted. Battery will impact it. I bought this because of plantar fasciitis. Turns out percussion messagers cause issues with this. I found several videos and articles on what messagers work best. Random orbital. I saw they had dual hand held models large size and looked at prices. WOW! Sticker shock, hundreds of dollars. Some had single speed and some had variable. I also bought a 6 inch plug in WEN unit. Its for bottom of the feet. This Ryobi is for legs, back and arms. A little heads up for any type you try. Meaning this or the style labeled for message - They generate heat due to the random orbit movement. This friction can cause rub and rug like burns. The pad itself does not need to rotate to cause this. So speaking of that. I put both covers on. The smoother one first. The soft fluffier one second as rhe outer. The buffer can not spin the pad it is the random orbit causing it to move slightly. The disc part can spin freely the entire time. But friction and vibration equals traction and thus can cause a rub burn on bare skin. Pay attention to this warmth. The unit does not have heat. Would I recommend this to buff your car, surfboard, boat, bald head. YES. As a message machine it is about a million times better than the percussion style machines I used. Pro tip The edge of the disc when carefully used works like a percussion messager except better. But be warned the machine is putting out real power and to take things slow at first until your legs arms and back get used to it. Again this DOES NOT COME WITH BATTERIES. I found out the hard way. Why sell the tool without? To make the tool more affordable. And there are many battery options that fit different work styles. Thus you can then order the exact batteries you want. Rather than pay for something you may need to buy more batteries anyway. Also most batteries on Amazon are 3rd party. And if you want OEM batteries buy from Ryobi directly. That way you get OEM. Also Amp Hours do not mean hours of run time. It is capacity only. The amps drawn by the motor and the amount of force or pressure on rue pad as you use it strain the motor and reduce run time a little. I use generic 8Ah batteries that came with a double charger and it works perfectly. Also these batteries power a wide range of Ryobi tools. Five stars all day long.

Very nice and easy to use. Was able to buff an entire compact truck once with one battery. Be prepared for it to shake a lot at low speeds, but its smoother the faster you set the speed.

The buffer works great! It’s lightweight, powerful and is easy to use. The 18 V battery life is too short for a big SUV so I would purchase a 24 V as well. The price is a good value and I will use it for many years.

No cord and plenty of power. I am a car nut and I wax my min 6 times a week.

Love Ryobi Tools! They are perfect for women with small hands and lower grip strength. Easy to use, bagttery life is good and all my tools use the same one. All of my tools are now Ryobi!

Didn't seem like it really random too much. Just vibrates.

Paid full price for this product but when opened it did not have the battery or charger as the packaging indicates is included.
