Wonderful shoes for the slightly above average active person!
I have had a pair of Solomon shoes for hiking that I bought about 4 years ago. They have always fit great, felt awesome all day, and really helped me get around on trails from gravel to rocks. I always have great grip! The way they look has always been a bit... Uh... Utilitarian. Not ugly by any means but not super stylish. They've held up amazing and I still use them all the time. Just recently hiked the whole grand canyon rim with these! When the time came to finally spend some money on everyday shoes, I was racking my head for brands I could trust. I was a fan of Puma sneakers but recently the quality has been kinda trash and I have to replace them like 3x a year.I was happy to see these in all black. They kinda have a Euro sporty look and the same lace-free design that I love about my hiking shoes.Since I have been more active these days I figured a more durable shoe would be better for my needs. They are good looking enough to wear every day but great for the occasional casual 4 mile evening walk. I look forward to many happy months (maybe years?) with these shoes.

The best
Amazon says this item has a high return rate…! I think NOT. This is my 6th pair, the best hiking, walking shoes available. I’ve tried a few other similar Salomon models because of lack of availability. That should tell you all you need to know. They are fantastic. Incredible fit and traction, wear them everyday and last a full year. A GREAT investment.

Exceptional cross training/trail shoes
Well made nice looking shoes, Used them on a loose dirt and rock trail -and was able to complete the run and walk with ease. My feet felt good afterwards the light cushioning of the shoe was enough to get me through the 5 mile trail. Shoesnfit well and supported my ankles well.

Excellent Trail Shoe With One Caveat
I've been using a version of this shoe since the Speedcross 3 back in 2015. Overall quality has been great and the fit/support/performance is excellent. And they look great. I just bought my 5th pair.About me: Size 13; 6' tall; 295 lbs (think ex-linebacker build - I could lose some weight but pretty solid)How I typically use them: fast moving hikes; 5 to 7 miles; 1 to 3 times per week; mixed gravel, dirt/muck, roots, rocks, plenty of slippery leavesThe Speedcross are very (VERY) grippy, which is nice considering the terrain I'm often on. I find the support is decent.Comfort level is very good but I will say on the rare occasions where I'm getting over 8 or 9 miles, I will start to feel it. That could be a factor of my weight as much as the shoe. Absolutely no comfort issues up to that point though. The lacing system is easy to figure out and works really well. I did break a lace on a pair a few years ago and was able to buy a replacement for it which lasted until the shoes wore out. No problemThe caveat? My experience is the soles wear out pretty quickly - especially on the SC6. And especially if you use on sand and/or pavement much - which I've learned to try to avoid. I think this is a direct effect of the grippiness of the soles which, again, is excellent. I've gone back to the SC5 this time (price) but both versions have this issue.Still.... recommended.

Tried something new.
My husband is a runner. He does trail and pavement running. He had been wearing Brooks brand shoes since the early 90’s, usually going through three or four pairs a year. He has wide feet so most shoes do not fit him correctly which is why he stayed with the one brand that he knew worked well for him. After decades of the same old thing I convinced him to try different brands.- He tried the On brand shoes. Not enough traction. As we were trail running in Hawaii he slipped because of the lack of grip and got scraped all down his left side. Those were thrown away in the nearest trash can he could find. Then he tried these Salomon shoes. He LOVES them. He ran a marathon in them a few weeks ago, and told me they were the most comfortable shoes he has had. Great support and grip. No slipping. They have held up really well.He is almost ready for his second pair for the year.Husband: 6’, 195lb, 12.5 shoe

Sole separates from the shoe upper.
I am a huge Salomon trail shoe fan and have been wearing them for years specifically the XA Pro 3Ds. I love the comfort, support, durability and easy lacing system I needed a new pair so I tried the speed cross. I loved the comfort and how lightweight they are. But about 3 weeks into owing them I noticed the sole starting to separate from the shoe upper on both shoes on the outside and at about mid-foot. I returned them to Amazon as defective for another pair. The same thing happened again after a few weeks. So I returned them and purchased another XA Pro 3D. My other complaint is that the tread tends to collect lots of trail debris and a white sole is probably not the best choice for longterm appearance.
