LOVE this tester
So found out that I'm a diabetic (no surprise, father is type 2 and found out in his 50s as well) so I immediately started looking for a tester that was pocket size, easy to use, and easy to read. I kept coming back to the Dario unit because I always have my phone with me and the fact that it just plugs into the phone and works with an app really impressed me. My only concern was how accurate it would be, and some of the reviews have been all over the place on accuracy. The only other concern was the proprietary nature of the strips themselves.I've not tried different strips in this, but since I've been using this for the last couple of months, the only real issue I've run into is sometimes, almost randomly, some of the strips read as having been used and they haven't been. It's maybe 2-3% total, so not significant but it always seems to happen at a bad time.Ease of use has been great, plug into the phone, open the app, insert strip, do the jab (the different settings are great, I have two fingers that only work on maximum so it's nice being able to adjust it) and then put a tiny amount on the strip. It doesn't take much blood at all, and the strips suck up the blood pretty quickly. I have to test on the run sometimes and it's nice that the bare minimum of blood is needed for a successful test.I got some test solutions to check accuracy and also compared it with the tester my doctor’s office uses and was quite happy to find that samples were generally within 5 points so accuracy hasn’t been an issue at all from what I can check.I got a case for it, but in a pinch I can carry it in a pocket without the case and still be able to test comfortably (I used it while at a basketball game in the stands without issue). It's so small even other diabetics see it and want to know what it is and how it works and get excited when I show them. For the price and simplicity of use and need for a tiny amount of blood I couldn't be happier with this device.

A great BGMS that is highly underrated!
I read multiple reviews of the Dario LC BG monitoring system and was on the fence about purchasing it. So I checked out the app in the App Store. A great app with nearly a 5 Star rating. So I went ahead and made the purchase. I’m so glad I did. This is a great compact device. The Swiss Army knife of meters that actually works without any compromise! Some of the reviews were just flat incorrect. One said that the lancing device was nit adjustable but it in fact has four depth settings. Other complain that you had to buy a subscription. That is completely optional, and if you’re a type 1 or test several times a day, it will definitely save you money on test strips and lancets. Others complained that there is no generic for the lancets, but that’s nit tru either. And the Dario brand is available for $5.99 per 100. The meter stem plugs firmly into my lightening port and the phone covers are totally options. Others complained that the device didn’t seem sturdy. Ok, it’s plastic, but so are most meters. I agree that I may not be too comfortable tossing into my backpack, but there is a small form fitting case available for $6.99 (with room for a few extra lancets; the Dario itself holds 25 test strips) Let’s just say that from a form and functionality standpoint there’s nothing to worry about, and nothing on the market that can compete with it.But of course, the most important thing is accuracy. I use a well calibrated continuous glucose monitor and on six spaced out readings the Dario was always within 1 or 2 point of my CGM. I even checked it against my Contour meter and it was always equal or within 2 points. Accuracy seems to be as good as it gets. Finally, there’s the app. I understand the 5 star rating. It is convenient, imports your Apple Health data, and has all sorts of great tips and information. I haven’t fully expired it yet because I wanted to write this review!I’m a big iPhone fan. My phone is always with me. And the way the Dario integrates is pure genius. I won’t opt for the subscription because with a CGM I just don’t do enough testing. But if I needed to, the service is a cost-effective no brainer for a home delivery service. You can sign up if you choose thru the app. I do however highly recommend the case. Some people don’t even use a case for their iPhone, but that’s just barbaric! 😊

My favorite, discrete glucometer - ideal for a busy parent or professional
If you are a smartphone user with a busy life and on the go, DARIO's monitor is fantastically simple, complete, easy, and small. It fits in the tiniest pocket without need for any bulky carriers. It's a sexy little device that I'm not embarrassed about bringing along on formal business lunches, through TSA, and discretely on the go outside or at home with little kids. While I know hand washing is important, I find I can still easily get a reasonable read (and tag it that I didn't wash right before) when I'm outside in the park walking around while managing tiny tots - this extra data I'd otherwise miss has been helpful in informing healthier decisions. The app makes data collection and tracking effortless and provides a few different ways to view and analyze the data over time. It's easy to export and share with a care provider. The data for me has been consistent with blood testing.I started using this as an information tool to prevent gestational diabetes, learning my personal sugar triggers so that I can make better lifestyle choices. I intend to keep using it post-pregnancy for general health, since diabetes II is one of those health risk factors I'd like to do my best to prevent. The membership plan is economical with coaching and including lancets and strips - although I haven't tried it yet, I certainly would if I were diagnosed with diabetes. I recommend this meter for all my parent and professional friends. I'm really thankful DARIO made this awesome glucometer so that I can learn how to live a healthier life and pregnancy. Also a note - the monitor is fully compatible with the iPhone Otterbox Commuter series case.
