I have the ad 900x open backs how do these compare? i really like clarity are they just as clear. what's better about these? are they worth $400 more?

I've only tried the AD900x for about a day, but I do own the AD700. I find those two to be more similar than to the AD2000x. Compared to the AD900x, I would say the AD2000x has stronger, more upfront, and fuller-bodied mids, reduced soundstage, and less treble (so they're less clear, but details are still there, just less emphasized). I find the AD2000x to be very engaging headphones (thanks to the upfront mids and smaller soundstage). They work well with modern music, especially those with female vocals. Less so with genres like classical. Are they worth $400 more than the AD900x? In most cases, no, since they're not the best jack-of-all-trades, but their sound signature is pretty unique compared to other headphones in this range. So if you're looking to get another pair of headphones to complement ones you already have, and your music tastes match the AD2000x, they're worth having a looking at. For reference, I also own a pair of T1's and still use the AD2000x a good chunk of the time.

The bass is lean. It's very accurate and clean, not muddy at all, but the sheer quantity may be lacking if you are looking for something that emphasizes bass. I personally really enjoy female vocals and these are excellent for that.

What are the differences between the ath-ad1000x and the ath-ad2000x besides price??

okay i can't find his review of the 1000x's but here is a great video with sound test of the 2000x's https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HV_UDhzJ-0oFor my personal experience i have the m50's and they are muddy, but the 2000x's are very rich and some times plays with the sensory a bit. I enjoy them for gaming, and when i can music. But to answer your question i say refer to that video review.
