Purchased these specificly for Pokemon Emerald and it worked great. The y shaped end is the negative side, used a my ceramic tweezers to bend the battery pads at an angle so they would touch the PCB pads, clamped it down to the top of the chip with one of my little rubber ended clips, then just soldered it in place. I had a dremel on hand just in case I ran into the issue where it was too tall, but it fits just fine and I can grow berries again. I'll likely repeat this on other games when the time comes.

Was able to replace GB, GBC, and GBA batteries with these. GBA shells kind bulge but its not bad.

These are excellent for GameBoy Color Games and OKAY for GameBoy Advanced Games. The issue is they have to sit on top of another chip or what have you on the GameBoy Advanced and these have to be bent to fit making it difficult to solder. I would have added a reference photo but I am unable to add them to any reviews at the moment due to some technical error on Amazon's part sadly.

Removed the old batteries in my Gameboy games and replaced them with these holders.

Initially my review was super positive. These are too thick for Pokemon GBA cartridges. I've had 3 crack the shell on my carts because of this holder bulging out the side of the cartridge. They might work great for Gameboy games, but they'll destroy your GBA games! be careful!!!

With some slight modifications, it works for Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald. Must bend the tabs sticking out on the side down at about a 45 degree angle, and once the battery is in, bend the metal tab on the + side down over the battery, and it just barely fits inside the cartridge. Restores the RTC, and removes the messages about the clock battery having run dry. Also makes the battery replaceable without further soldering or modifying the cartridge.For Pokemon Trading Card Game (for the Gameboy), this also works. Does not require any modification for that game, it drops right in.Not the right size for Pokemon Gold / Silver / Yellow, but that isn't the fault of the product. Need a larger size holder for those games, since they take something closer to a CR2032 than the CR1616 found in TCG / Ruby / Sapphire / Emerald.

One of these worked well for my Japanese Warioland 4 cartridge, it just had to be shaved off a bit before it would close properly. Now I can save the game!

The legs are too short. You can get it to fit a gameboy or gameboy color game if you're careful and extend the solder a little. Gameboy advance games forget it, the legs can't even be bent to reach, and the cover doesnt fit on top of it anyways. Im not sure what this product was made for because the battery size is for gameboy advance, which it doesnt fit, and the gameboy color games it can fit it does not fit well or have the right battery size for. I wouldnt buy this again.
