Fine prayers, but updated, very contemporary illustrations!
I first downloaded this book on Kindle last year and inside were some gorgeous, medievil celtic illustrations, which perfectly helped to convey the timeless and ancient theme of 'The rhythm of life.' Well matched to the daily meditations and prayers for each day. A simple book to use, far easier to follow than the complicated Common Book of Prayer and Worship - and i loved it so much i decided to buy the 'in the flesh' paperback version to carry with me and to get the feel of the prayers on paper... for there's nothing quite like holding and feeling the pages of a spiritual book, somehow it makes it all the more special and personal. However, to my horror, the lovely illustrations had been 'updated' (although why the publishers felt the need to update a book of classic and timeless celtic prayers, i'll never know?) and replaced them with a new, ultra-modern, sketchy set of drawings that i feel are too modern! I shall try and ignore those rather insipid, vulgar lino-prints, which look like they belong more in a retro-edition of 'Vogue magazine' than in an ancient Book of Prayers; simply for the sake of the Author, David Adam, who has excellently set out a rhythm of meditation and worship in the time-honoured tradition of Morning, Midday, Evening and Night Prayer. At least these, praise God, have not been modernised!

Great Prayer Book..For Groups/Clergy
Really useful little prayer book that helps you get into a rhythm of daily prayer. The only thing worth mentioning is that it is really designed for use in a group/congregation led by a minister. Having said that I adapted it for personal prayer easily enough.

So meaningful
We used 10 copies of this prayer book for the mid week public morning prayer. Less wordy than common worship morning prayer. Although we do use the lectonary readings for the day. There are set services here for morning, mid day and evening for all 7 days of the week. I have always found Celtic worship so helpful. This prayer book is perfect for what brought for.

I had encountered this when on retreat and wanted a copy to use at home. I like the rhythm of having a different focus for each day of the week.

Use this daily
This really suits me. It is written from a mainly Anglican and Celtic viewpoint. It has offices for every day of the week; and for four times a day. It is really good to start and end the day with the appropriate office. The prayers are very down to earth, but the Almighty is at the centre.
