Is it safe to leave them charging all the time?

I have had mine for about a year and have kept it plugged up and the batteries charging. I have never noticed any problem and the batteries have never even been warm to the touch. I believe the charger has overcharge protection.

Does this only charge by usb or can I plug it into the socket?

These are 1200 mAh an work very well. Haven't had any issues. I've owned this particular set for almost a year.
