Beware - your electrical cable may have too big a plug !
I bought this product mainly because it is made in USA and because it seemed like a good idea for 100ft cable I have for my yard. When it arrived, I discovered that instructions are minimal and none were provided for electrical cable - in writing or in video. I am very glad that there are pictures of people walking with it but it would be much more useful to explain exactly, from 0, how to thread an extension cables on the reel.In my case, I had to take the reel apart after discovering that extension cable plug is simply too big !Then I spent an hour of my life figuring out how to thread the offing thing on!I had to redo it twice after checking the manufacturing site and Youtube for some kind of clue - to no avail.I almost gave up and returned it but my technical side did not let me and in the very frustrating end I finally managed to pull it off. It even works. I even like it. But would NOT recommend unless the manufacturer updates the design for bigger plugs and provides a clear video manual on the best way to thread it.

Not how I imagined
It's a wonderful idea and works great if you're winding fishing line. However, I bought this to wind a 100 foot long 12/3 outdoor extension cord and it is not as easy as it looks. I watched the videos, read the instructions and then fiddled around for a few minutes to get cord in place. You have to be sure that the cord is totally unwound without any kinks or it gets jammed going through the guide. Not being a body builder, I have normal upper body strength, and once you're about half-way done, 50 feet of 12 gauge extension cords is heavy and hard to hold. At this point, maintaining the cord guide against your abdomen while turning becomes a chore. Perhaps due to my weakness, I was not able to wind the cord as tightly as possible and the 100ft. just barely fits. If you work out, this might be for you.

Works as Advertised - if not BETTER
When I see these reviews, I always wonder if these are real people. But I'm telling you -- I had bought 2 different extension cords, 100 feet each, 12/3 (so heavy gauge) and they just flopped inside my truck and knotted up in their windings. Searched and searched - and happened upon these "FreeREEL" units, hoping they would work. They arrived today and, frankly, I'm amazed. 100% truth: All 100 feet amazing are able to fit on a single reel. I had gone on and ordered 2, hoping they would work. Now they look soooooo organized. And the winding process was so easy because of the design. Well done, MartinProductDesign. This is an amazing and elegantly-simple invention! Love it!

Do not use for 100' 12/3 extension cord
The plug doesn't fit into the starting receptacle, causing damage to the plug when the weight of the wound cord puts pressure on it. The cord droops when unreeling this, making it catch on the sides of the spool. I was really hoping this would be the solution to my extension cord woes since I purchased a plug-in electric lawn mower. But this still isn't the solution I'm looking for. This seems like it would be good for a light-weight cable, or a shorter heavy duty cable. But it just isn't good for the 100' 12/3 grade of cable.

Huh, it works?
When I got it, it came with a box with a hole in it. Uh-oh. I looked and I was surprised how small it actually was. It comes with a quick start guide (pamphlet) but the video was more helpful. After some trial and error, I managed to reel in my 100ft 12/3 electric cord. To be honest, it got heavy enough that I laid it on the ground and continued reeling it in. I can tell that I just purchased back my time and got rid of unwanted aggravation.

First impressions
First; the maximum electrical cord it will hold is 100ft. The blue knob is hard to hold while reeling the cord back on the reel. There is no guide for the electrical cord to reel back. The cord stays in the center causing uneven cord placement. I cannot recommend this product.

Handles thick 75' 12/3 cord no problem
I haven't attempted to wind up my 100' 12/3 extension cord yet, but it handles my 75' 12/3 cord just fine. It's a little odd figuring out how to use it the first time, but quite easy from then on.

Wraps a heavy duty cord fairly well
This thing does a really good job of keeping my 100' 12/3 super heavy duty extension cord organized. It is a fair bit of work getting it wound up, but I put that down to the weight of the cord and not the function of this device.
