A very beautiful recreation
I wish I could knock 1 star off for reasons I'll explain below, but I won't, since this product has so few reviews. For starters, this deck has fantastic artwork. It lightly touches up the art, making it feel a bit more clean and modern, without straying from the original. The only complaint I have is that they've replaced the card "Hope" with "The High Priestess". This somewhat disrupts the symmetry of the deck. Most tarot decks have three of the Seven Virtues: Strength/Fortitude, Justice, and Temperance. The original, historical Minchiate deck included all seven, adding Prudence, Faith, Hope, and Charity to the mix (though it also excluded the High Priestess). I could've overlooked this omission if the High Priestess card had the same artwork as Hope. I also could've overlooked it if they had included both cards, bumping the total to 98. (As an aside, some Minchiate decks had a 98th card, Fortuna, pictured as a woman running atop a wheel. So the total number of cards is not fixed at 97.) The numbering already is different from the original, so there's no reason not to include both. This deck feels incomplete without Hope, but it's still a fantastic deck. I'd rate it 4.5/5 stars.

A lovely divination deck, playing will require effort
As other reviewers have noted, the trumps included are not historically accurate, which is more disappointing for me than others. The cards are of high quality, though the box can be difficult to open. I would have loved any mention of the historical game this deck was used in within the booklet, or historical accuracy for the trumps included, but overall this is a quality product besides that central complaint I have, which is very personal to me.

Minchiate Tarot
Lovely deck. This Minchiate replaced the Virtue Hope with the High Priestess. I used the extra card and added Hope back in. The cards are numbered in sequence with modern day decks. Nice card stock. A great price.

Impressive, Accurate (Readings), Intuitive
The Da Brigh Minchiate Tarot deck comes in a tuck box with a semi-matte finish that is easy-on-the-eyes and showcases the artwork pretty well (a great choice for this color palette and art style as a glossy box would have been distracting and would have done a disservice to the beautiful artwork — great choice in selecting the semi-matte finish for the box and all other features throughout the deck). I love the interpretation of the Major Arcana artwork and visual keys for interpretation. This is a 97-card deck, as opposed to a 78-card deck. Virtue cards — numbered 22-24 — immediately follow the more familiar Major Arcana cards: Prudence, Charity, and Faith. Elemental cards — Fire, Water, Earth, and Air — follow the Virtues. Finally, the Zodiacal cards round out the additional cards included in this beautifully illustrated deck. The Minor Arcana cards brilliantly fall somewhere between a pip deck and an illustrated deck, in that, the cards feature the number and element of the suit (like a pip deck i.e. 2 Cups, 5 Wands, 7 Swords, etc.) but they also feature concise and helpful keywords (upright and reversed) to help with interpretation (this may be especially useful for beginners, but even advanced readers have keyword cards). The keywords are particularly useful since a LWB (little white book) does not accompany the deck (which may or may not be necessary or useful, depending on the person, but I never use them so I’m not bothered by this). If you’re a beginner, you may want to invest in a few books to help with interpretation of the Major Arcana, Minor Arcana, Virtues, Zodiacal cards, and court cards since these do not feature keywords. Honestly, this is very normal and part of our continuing education for even seasoned, professional readers. Since this deck does not come with a LWB, here are a few suggestions to get you started (all available here on Amazon): The Astrology Dictionary: Cosmic Knowledge from A to Z by Donna Woodwell Holistic Tarot by Benebell Wen Tarot Correspondences by T. Susan Chang Really any book by Mary K. Greer, but perhaps Tarot for Your Self is a good place to start Seventy-Eight Degrees of Wisdom by Rachel Pollack To be clear, the LWB, generally, offers an overview of the cards with a few keywords to spark your intuition. I recommended the above books to get started if you really want to take a deep dive into the world of tarot beyond what any LWB offers. These books will get you started in really journeying into the fascinatingly detailed and robust world the Da Brigh Minchiate Tarot deck presents so exquisitely. I love a fully illustrated deck and the card backs are beautiful and suitable for reading reversals, if that’s your practice. The borders are elegant, do not distract from the artwork, and work well in large and small spreads. Similarly, the artwork, in general, is suited for large and small spreads. Am I in love with this deck? Why, yes, yes I am!
