Casts a lot of light and barely sips electricity.
I was looking for some replacement bulbs for lights in our RV when I came across the Cabin Bright lights. I was somewhat apprehensive since I was concerned about them not throwing a sufficient amount of light. We ended up replacing a number of fixtures with these light and I can tell you that they are quite bright, and barely get warm to the touch making them much safer from an accidental burn if you were to come in contact with them while they are turned on. If you have had the regular type of bulbs you are aware of just how hot they can get. They also use LOT less power than a regular bulb which is why they stay so cool and that also means that you are using a lot less electricity in order to run them. The one item to remember is that these bulbs come in different degrees Kelvin and that governs the color of the light that they put out. I bought the 5500 degree K bulbs and they throw a very bluish light which doesn't bother me but my wife doesn't like it. If you want a warmer (more yellow colored) light you can get these in a lower heat level (about 4000 degrees K.)Overall, extremely happy with this product.

Only lasted an hour total
I bought this bulb because of the great reviews and after using it a total of less than an hour (over three or four times of using it) it starts making a sizzling sound and goes bright then dies, never was that bright of a light when I got it but I thought that was just the way it was. You can see at the base where something inside went wrong and it fried itself.Edit: Received a replacement bulb for the first one and tried it again. Again it lasted about an hour of use, I'm guessing these bulbs have a very narrow voltage range that they can take. I placed them in an Eagle Hi-Lite lamp, which uses a 12v incandescent bulb, but after the second one went I took a voltage measurement on my lamp and found it is putting out 15.5 volts which works fine with an incandescent but I believe it is to much for these bulbs to handle. So if you plan to use these with AC current you may want to check and see what your transformer is putting out.

I like it, but it's not as warm in hue as I expected.
I like it and am glad I bought it. I will buy the same one again to replace the other reading light in our RV living room when it burns out. However, I think it will be too bright in our eyes for the reading lights above our bed since the cover is clear, so I may look for a different one for those lights. Also, although I bought this bulb specifically because other reviewers said the light emitted was the same color as the non-LED bulb it was replacing, comparing it side-by-side with my non-LED bulb with both of them shining on my white curtains, this one is less yellow and more pure white in hue. It is not bluish, however, and not so white as to be a problem for me.

Better in every way.
These lights are a perfect replacement for the higher amp incandescent bulbs. Best of all they put off just as much warm light, which is great for reading.

~~ Still working after FOUR months ~~
When the 12V incandescent spotlight bulb above the bed in our fifth wheel blew just shortly after we purchased it I was on the lookout for a new one. This is the one I chose. It arrived in great condition and has been used regularly for the last FOUR months with absolutely no issues. This LED light is the same color as the original incandescent one.HIGHLY recommended. Nice and bright for nighttime reading.I purchased this at the full prevailing price. I was not required to write a review but chose to do so. Thanks, Richard

And they stay cool. Like me
Replaced a handful of reading lights in my Bluebird Wanderlodge. According to the gizmo on the wall that tracks such things for our solar, they use a fraction of the juice as the originals. And they stay cool. Like me.

wish we had these all along!
great little spotlight. we put these in our camper over our lounge chairs. these don't get hot like the ones installed by the factory. nice, direct light so we can read our book in our chair. not hurtful on your eyes, either.

Stop looking. Buy these. They're great.
These are the best replacement for a 1383 that I've used. The multiple LEDs give enough light for reading plus a good-looking "old school" spill for general illumination, unlike other 1383 replacements which have a narrower beam. They run cold, which is exactly what they should do. I bought five, and might even install a couple of extra fixtures just for these bulbs. If you want the frosted glass effect of the old incandescent 1383, just scuff up the clear plastic surface of the bulb with some 220 grit sandpaper. The plastic still passes the light, but you won't see the individual LEDs behind your handmade "frosting". The reduced glare is easier on the eyes if you are looking at the spotlights from across the room.
