Forstner bits belong in your shop
I've heard from several makers that you must have forstner bits among your tools. I've been told that it doesn't matter what brand or features, so I've began building out a collection of them, and this is my first. As I put it to work, I noticed a couple things that justify removing a star (1/2 star each). The shank on this whether because of the size or that it is smooth, seems to slip a little bit. I suspect that it is probably because I'm trying to use it in a hand tool rather than a press, but regardless, it gave me some safety concerns. Also, while tolerance isn't usually a big deal for woodworking, in this case it is two thousands oversized which means some possible slop if you aren't aware of the size difference.

Love This Bit
If you've never used a Forstner bit before, you'll want to immediately add this to your cart. I finally had a need to use my Forstner bit today and I was blown away by the beautiful hole this bit drilled. I've used paddle and auger wood bits but have never been so impressed by a drill bit before. You will not be disappointed. I believe the bit is best suited for a drill press, but I imagine it will work fine with your corded or cordless drill.

High-quality Forstner bit
Got this bit to use to enlarge an existing hole in a night stand. After getting the bit, I researched the best way to do this neatly, and the recommended approach was to use to "rat tail" file. (which work great).I needed a different test for this review. I compared this a similar sized bit from a set of premium Forstner bits. I drilled holes in scraps of 2x lumber, pallets, and plywood. The bit had no issues with any of these. There was no visible tearout. And the bit did fine with pallet - which was old and very hard. Seems like a great bit.

Greta quality forstner bit
I've used this on a recent kitchen remodel. I used it mostly to drill into my cabinet doors to mount the hinges. The bit is high quality and easily drilled 2 dozen holes without losing it's bite.

Prefect Holes
If your a woodworker, you can appreciate the smoothness a Forstner bit leaves behind in a drilled hole. I have the set of Forstner bits and my 5/8" bit has worn over time, so I ordered this bit to replace it. This bit cuts perfect holes and leaves a smooth cut behind. The new bit arrived before the expected delivery date and was packaged in a protective plastic pack that protected the edge during shipment. The bit has a 3/8" shank to fit just about any drill chuck, but works best using a drill press to steady the bit during the cutting process. Definitely recommend this bit!

Standard Forstner bit
Nothing overly fancy on this one. No hex shank or extra serrations. The finish is fine for the price. I needed a replacement after my 3/4" Porter Cable bit took a beating. This one works well enough. It cuts straight holes without chattering or wandering. So far it has stayed sharp and hasn't rusted.
