## Description

Following each step in a Western blotting procedure, a wash step is required in order to remove unbound reagents. PBS (Phosphate Buffered Saline) and TBS (Tris Buffered Saline) with a detergent such as Tween 20 are commonly used wash buffers in immunoassay procedures. Detergents are added to blocking and wash buffers in order to reduce non-specific binding thereby improving the sensitivity of the assay.
