Imperial Doorbells are mechanically operated, requiring no batteries, wiring or electricity. The doorbell simply fits onto the inside of your front door and gives maintenance free, reliable service. The doorbell uses a clockwork action, and needs only an occasional winding of the dome. They are made in England. They give a loud ring, using the door itself as a sounding board, and will continue to ring as long as the bell push button is pressed. Visitors can clearly hear that your doorbell is in working order. They offer an alternative to wireless doorbells where UPVC door frames (with metal backing for strength and security) can cause problems with wireless signal strength. The clockwork mechanism is released by a thin rod that passes through the door to a bell push button on the outside. This rod is adjustable for different door thicknesses, but where doors are particularly thick, we can supply longer rods. The bell units measure 78mm, (3") in diameter. When fully wound, the bell will ring for approximately 75 seconds, and since a typical visitor will press the bell push for between 2 and 3 seconds, the mechanism will support up to 30 rings.

Wow, at last a doorbell which works even in rain. Brilliant service too.
I wanted a wind up doorbell because all the other types have failed to work after getting wet, being outside on my north facing front door! Even those claiming to be waterproof. This one makes absolute sense to me as I cannot see how water would stop it working. When my friend was fitting it, he said we needed a longer connecting rod. The same day, I emailed the company as they promise to send one free of charge. The next day it arrived. What amazing service. Brilliant company, brilliant product. I heartily recommend them.

Wind up Mechnical Doorbell Matt Black
Got really fed up with batteries and soggy bell pushes. Every 18 months or so had to buy and buy again. THIS is just brilliant and did not know these could be had. Really easy to set up, much easier than I thought too. Extra bronze bell push not useful for me but other push is good. Time will tell how long the plastic cogs last but am optimistic.Nice loud bell inside and buzz noise from outside. Pricey I thinks but I like. Would recommend

It worked for a short time and then gave up. First the button flew off, then the bell mechanism died. Now I'm left with a button with nothing to press and a bell that won't ring. Not that impressed. Sorry

Quality
The bell arrived a little later than i would have liked, but it was worth waiting for. There is a pleasing heft to the thing that speaks of quality, but the mechanism is mostly plastic, so we will have to see how long it lasts. Other than that, very pleased.
