Q: What do the little wings on each side measure? I only have a 3" clearance on one side of the door. Thanks!

They measure right about 3". They come right to the end of the door frame on my door.

Q: Does this work on carpet to tile doors? Or does it have to be carpet to carpet?

It can be used on the carpet side of the door but it might catch the door as it closes since it will sit up above the tile slightly. I used it this way to save the carpet outside the bathroom from my cats. It was not perfect but it did work.

Q: Is the plastic on this item very thick? My door has little to no clearance over the carpet so I'm hoping it's not super thick or it won't work!

I also had very little clearance..when I first put them down the door dragged against it some, but as it settled in it is fine...and it stopped my youngest cat from tearing up my rug...I have one for each of our bedrooms and would def recommend
