External use on politicians? Well back in my days of horses and cross-country, I used it liberally on hooves to keep them from drying and splitting. Of course MOST of a horse's body is not the same as a politician's, so you'll have to be the judge. Sticky enough to hold feathers, you ask? Absolutely. I use it in making soap and cleanup is a major task. Really.

Yes. I make my pine tar soap using this product

Q: would this be good for treating wood handle such as am axe?

yes, you have to mix 50/50 with raw filtered linseed oil (not boiled) or with 20% gum turpentine and warm it up to 60 degrees Celsius then start painting with it. it will dry with the linseed or the turpentine. 2 treatments after 2 days, then 1 after 5 years and every 10 years after that. protects against carpenter ants, beetles and termites.
