We have one of those grocery outlet stores near us that sells overstock, stuff from stores that closed, out of date stuff, whatever. A long time ago, I bought some barbeque sauce that seemed to be from a food show or something - it wasn't a national brand, but it was just delicious - full of black pepper, spicy, not too sweet, with a depth of flavor I had never had in a store sauce before. The grocery outlet only had a few bottles, so I bought them and stupidly didn't even bother to save the bottles to see if I could buy more online.Over the years, I have tried literally every sauce in the store, trying to find one that had a flavor as good as that random one I had years ago. Finally started searching online, and came across Gates. THIS is what I was looking for. So delicious, I could drink it out of the bottle. I don't even eat meat, but I put it on anything I can think of - black bean burgers, burritos, vegetarian seitan "ribs," use it to dip french fries and veggie chix nuggets. It's perfectly spicy and doesn't have that cloying disgusting sweetness of all those store sauces. I could go on and on about Gates for 10 pages, but I won't. Just try it. You won't be disappointed. I just ordered 2 more bottles a couple minutes ago! A+

IMO, Gates Classic BBQ truly is the best bbq sauce available. Buy it. And, if you're ever in Kansas City, stop by the restaurant too. It's so good that when I go out to "BBQ" restaurants in CA, I smuggle in a bottle of Gates sauce to help make it more legit (and you will too, once you know).

My Hometown, grew up with “HI MY I HELP YOU!! Taste of home for me, well liked by my West Coast friends. One bottle leaked a tiny bit, not a big loss. Perhaps a better seal?
