smell so good!
Some of the bricks are soft soft, and crumble. But those i just use with charcoal patties.I love this brand brick incense. The holder does lead a bit to be desired, square end brick, circular hole in holder. But, besides that, these are awesome.wonderful scents.

Great scents. Interesting form factor.
I like the scents, and am getting used to the form factor. I wish they lasted longer.

Aromatic and Exotic
I chose this new sampler because I'm huge fan of Santa Fe incense and found that this one performed very similarly with a near 30-45 minute burning time (in non-drafty/windy areas) while having a near-identical burner (this one has a deeper hole). What was new however, was that this incense set brought in fond aromas of the Eastern world, like frankincense, labidanum, and patchouli. The base aroma of from the incense bars' material base must have been similar as well, since it imparted the same foresty, earthy scent that was distinctly nostalgic. The smoke that emitted from the bars was clean and white, although the bars did take a bit of time to light due to their natrual composition. Each bar fit relatively well into the slot in the holder with a bit of shaving (think square peg in round hole). Although there was some leaning and tilting at times, they did not fall over and continued to burn, filling my home or back patio with a wonderful fragrance that lasted nearly all day. To ensure that the incense sat better, I sometimes just set it on a flat incense dish to burn. Overall, with all 7 scent variations, the aromas were true to the herbs and resins listed and was both piquant and vibrant without the cloying pungency found in cheap incenses. The aromas are less like traditional eastern stick or resin incense, but a noteworthy blend of east and west--think eastern favorites on a background of a Californian chaparral campfire or a southwestern fireplace, without the sootiness. The scents were also neither floral nor zesty, smelling deep, rich, dark, and earthy with masculine tones or those reminescent of fireplaces in the western US, pairing well with a book and a tumbler of whisky. They were a hit to my husband who doesn't like floral/fruity incense and received many compliments as well when we lit them at our local temple. The aromas are truly one-of-a-kind and a must-try!PRO TIP: Natrual incenses take longer to light than stick incenses. Instead of hovering around the incense bars with a lighter that might get hot in your hand, hold them with tongs over a gas stove or a lit candle.

Inconsistent burn, confusing labeling
Some of the bricks have trouble lighting and remaining lit long enough to start burning. I've had a couple that burn for a few minutes then go out as well. I have to light for an extended period of time and then experience a charred scent on top of the incense fragrance. The labeling of the box is all over the place. The word "resin" is covered in every instance, and replaced with "exotic". This is problematic to me because I have no idea what "exotic" is supposed to mean as a replacement for resin. I'm disappointed that the actual ingredients are not listed. Seems like any company can market "natural" in their products and if it's not stated what it is, I'll have no idea if it's actual natural. I will say, so far, nothing smells chemical-like, just the char smell from overlighting some bricks. The names of the incense are also mixed up so if you were aiming to light a patchouli and saw it labeled frankincense, you may be disappointed with that.Right now, I just feel meh about these. I do like that there is no stick and therefore no wood burn. I find the smoke from these to be more pleasant than incense sticks. So I am likely to try another brick incense, but probably not this brand.

A lot of incense
I had never used this style of brick incense before and was curious, especially of the niche scents. I enjoy the aftermath of all the scents, but some are strong and unusual while burning. They burn quickly and do smoke a good deal.I think I've found my preference in incense, the Japanese variety, for it's low smoke and natural but distinct scent. However, I'm pleased enough with these and will definitely burn them all. I enjoy exotic and unique fragrance across the board: perfume, oils, incense etc and I appreciated the opportunity to enjoy and learn some of these scents without having to buy and learn to burn them in their original form. I know there are bakhoor style burners but it all seems out of my depth for now. I'm happy.

Cool mix of scents in a different style
I was attracted to the idea of "old west" aromas and also interested in the brick style incense. All and all I'm happy with the pack. The rectangular bricks don't really fit in the circular hole of the holder, kind of an odd miss, but you can sort of "twist" then back and forth and they will at least seat for the burn. Didn't bother me that much. I'd definitely recommend setting the holder into a wider basin for the ash.Even despite needing an ash dish and the bricks being slightly mismatched to the holder, I think the variety and amount of incense you get is worth the money. The scents are cool, some of them are more subtle in their differences, and I'm not in love with every last one, but they do have a neat mix of "masculine" western scents.
