Great concept but room to improve - Updated
Update: Although my use case was not a great fit for this product, I did think that someone with small kids may benefit. I gave these to my friend who has 2 small kids (3 and 5) both learning to ski. He agreed that getting the skis and poles attached was a bit awkward but will get easier with practice. Once attached this carrier was extremely helpful. Although this is intended for 1 set of gear, he was able to easily carry both sets of the kids' gear to the lift securely which made the transport much easier. He said it was great that the straps were not connected and could be placed at any point on the skis so they fit the kids' tiny length of skis and poles. He also carries a backpack and this carrier fits easily inside.I have changed my star rating from a 3 to a 4 after hearing about the benefits of this product for someone with kids.Original ReviewI really, really wanted to love these. Unfortunately, for my use, they missed the mark a bit.The boot strap is nice and connects easily to the boots, and the associate shoulder strap, when extended fully, hits just slightly below my hip which is great. The ski straps and pole straps are where I feel there is room for improvement. They are both a bit awkward to attach to the skis and poles. Once attached they are very secure which is great. I never felt that the skis or poles would slip out or move on me. The shoulder strap is a great length when fully extended. However, the non-slip should pad on the strap was not very non slip. The strap itself continued to slid through the should pad, causing the skis and poles to slide to the back or front which was a bit difficult to manage. I needed to continually adjust the strap so the skis stayed level when walking. However, the non-slip should pad on the strap was not very non slip. It kept slipping off my shoulder. The size was also too big for me to slip into a pocket. If you have cargo-type pants, I would think it would all fit in 1 or 2 pockets. If you ski with a backpack, you will have no trouble at all packing them away. I have a women's Obermeyer jacket and the pockets were too small to fit the straps.I tried to love these but they just missed the mark for me. I could see that if you had kids and carried a backpack these could be very helpful to get all the gear to the lift.

The Solution for your skis and gear... a Compact Carrier!
Love the snow? Isn't it great to raise your Family and Kids on the slopes and have them take pride in their sporting gear? What's that..? Dad has to carry everything cause the kids are height and coordinated strength challenged..?!? Yup... You want the Fam to Go... but you gotta get their gear to the slopes too. So, my thoughtful wife ordered this set-up with the intention of its use to be the hopeful solution to the above scenario. Our 11-year-old son is the only Family member who still skis (vs all the rest of us who snowboard) and we've been challenged with him carrying his own equipment across the parking lot and all the way over to the Lifts. You know how it is... and especially with Skis, Boots, Poles, additional gear and the like. All flopping around, falling apart in different directions all while the boy is struggling, stopping, dragging and tiring out. And that's before we even get started! It all goes down every time. But now... This might be our solution and savior tool. I wrestled with using a regular ski bag etc. but it's a bummer to store a full-sized bag when he hits the slopes. This product is a great idea whereas it folds up so small that it can be securely compacted down into his backpack that he skis with! Wow! It slings nicely, adjusts accordingly, and keeps the equipment together and easily balanced enough for him to get his gear across the never-ending parking lot-scape to get him going for the day (and ditto for the Return trip back to the Truck!). This entire carrier package is a well-made, well-thought-out, seemingly required supplemental piece of equipment that every skier should consider getting if the above scenario sounds familiar. It looks like it's going to work out great! With Winter approaching faster now, and the resorts starting to open up, we will get the chance to repetitively test this product soon. So far, our initial home-based tests are getting a favorable and positive Thumb's Up! So, for now, we can definitely recommend this product. And to note, we will update this review later in the season and report on the true effect it has on our ski outings themselves and our son's ever-adjusting comfort level of success. Reviews and personal testimonials from others sold us on this type of carrier so we will see! We have great faith in this product and are impressed with the concept, materials, ease of use, and effectiveness (so far!). Recommended? - Yes!! (Dad will Love it!)

Complicated for being a simple product
The media could not be loaded. Straps on the skis are straight forward. It’s a Velcro strap. I wraps around the skis and is as simple as a Velcro shoe latch. The Velcro straps for the poles are unnecessarily long and because they are sewn to the ski strap, it is cumbersome to tighten the poles (see video and photos). The poles swing back and forth while using the shoulder strap. It’s not that big of a deal and gets the overall job done of carrying the skis and poles with a shoulder strap, but some improvements are needed. It would be easier if the pole straps were like a backpack strap and you could just synch it down.Overall, 3 out of 5 stars. Product does what it says it does. Reducing one star for awkwardness and difficulty to install the poles, and one more star for loose poles flopping while carrying with the shoulder strap.

Functional, but cheap
If you're looking for a cheap solution, this might be the thing. It is not expensive, which is nice. When I unpacked the materials I could tell it wasn't exceptional quality, but that is what I would expect in the price range. It is a nice little kit to allow you to make carrying your ski gear easier for a child. We recently took my boys on their first ski trip and I was a little concerned about my youngest carrying his gear. In the end, we barely used the kit as he was content to just carry his stuff, which was easier than trying to hook it all up. Still I can see the value in this for smaller children. The price makes it a low risk purchase and the quality is on par with what I would expect for the price.
