CRIME WITH A LOT OF LAUGHS
I chose this book because I was looking for an 'E' for an A - Z reading challenge and it has turned out to be an excellent choice. I wasn't sure I would like crime fiction but I loved this book. Evanovich had me from page 1 - ''There are some men who enter a woman's life and screw it up forever. Joseph Morelli did this to me - not forever, but periodically.'' Straight away I was interested in Joseph Morelli and whar sort of relationship they had, presumably he could not be that bad or she would not keep giving him the chance to screw her life up. There relationship turns out to be sparky - funny sparky, and I loved it. 'One for the Money' has a great plot which is well told, it moves along at a good pace and it has some truly laugh-out-loud moments.I loved Stephanie Plum, she is a normal girl getting on with her life. She is close to her slightly eccentric family, yet determined to hang on to her independence. When she becomes a bounty hunter she has to wise-up and toughen-up which is something of a learning curve for her, for the reader an enjoyable one.The other characters are a mix of good, bad, bonkers-in-a-good-way, bonkers-in-a-bad-way. Granma Mazur is definitely bonkers-in-a-good-way and you can't not love her. When she gets her hands on Stephanie's gun it is hilarious. I look forward to meeting Stephanie, Joe, Ranger and Grandma in the stories that follow. I recommend this book.

One for the Money
This is the first in the long running Stephanie Plum series. When we first meet her, Stephanie has just lost her job and, out of a desperate need for money, takes a job with her cousin as a bounty hunter. It is fair to say that her cousin does not want her to work for him and that Stephanie is totally unprepared for what the job entails. Saying that, Stephanie is both really funny and totally human, so you find that you are really rooting for her.The main plot revolves around Stephanie Plum having to locate Joseph Morelli, an ex cop accused of murder, who she has known since she was a child. As they embark on a cat and mouse game of Stephanie attempting to catch Morelli, while he both evades her and tries to keep an eye on her at the same time, they find that they need to join forces. This is a really funny, fast moving mystery, with great characters. I am sure I will enjoy reading the further books in this series and also enjoyed the authors new series, Wicked Appetite .

Laugh out loud!
This book is fantastic. It's not a literary feat that is going to push the boundaries of your knowledge, nor is it a classic. However, it is a brilliant little novel that will make you giggle and you can't help but feel connected to the characters. When Stephanie Plum loses her job, the financial pressures become immense. As a result, she takes a job as a bounty hunter (like you do!) and soon finds herself hunting down a police officer who is on the run after being accused of murder. As cases go, this isn't the easiest one for a fledgling bounty hunter - and Stephanie is soon in well over her head. Dragged into a seedy underworld and hounded by a psychotic prize fighter, the hunter becomes the hunted. Now Stephanie needs protection... and the elusive police officer might just be the one to help. This story is brain candy at its absolute best, a guilty pleasure and a trashy treasure... if anyone can manage to not at least crack a smile when Grandma Mazur gets 'friendly' with a roast chicken, then there must be something wrong with them!

Action romance thriller at it's best.
I guess this is what some of my so called 'well educated' friends refer to as "low-brow commercial pulp fiction". Yep! And it's the best of the grange. Can so many readers who leave top reviews be wrong? No. It's sassy, funny and good thrillers that I devour. I enjoy the banter between strong characters, I love the fact that Janet E makes me walk or drive up and down Stark Street -because in my mind, I am there. Great books, entertaining, fun and cleverly written. May never win a prestigious literature prize, but hey, Ms Evanovich has won me and millions of other readers. Get your copy, sit back and enjoy the ride.

Lightweight good laugh
Female detective (by accident) a bit in a familiar style feisty style, but well drawn and engagingly structured. A good lightweight read

Fast paced fun
Today I met Stephanie Plum, utterly chaotic accidental bounty hunter and I love her. Although it will never enter the list of classics it's brilliant in it's simplicity. Recently unemployed she stumbles upon the career of bounty hunter and lurches from one mistake to the next in her pursuit of her quarry. There are some laugh out loud moments because life, even in the most dire of circumstances can be humorous. The characters, plot and language work together to bring you a funny, fast paced thriller with a dash of romance. I'm along for the ride with this series and can't wait to find out what her next case / adventure is. Yours Truly

Great fun intro novel
This is a great book if you want to escape and put your worries to one side for a few moments. It's an easy to read, laugh out loud book with a fiesty, cack-handed and accident-prone heroine - Stephanie Plum. I love her because she reminds me of me on a bad day. The characters who feature and I imagine will recur throughout the series are wonderfully portrayed complete with all the idiosyncracies you want from the cast of an off-the-wall crime novel. The scene at the family dinner with grandma and the gun is just pure farcical genius and reminded me strongly of Tom Sharpe's 'Ancestral Vices'. Is it highbrow? No but please don't take that to mean I think it's badly written because I don't. Does it hit the spot and lift the spirits? Absolutely, this is a really feel-good book to me and I can't wait to read the series.

Fun and action-filled
Stephanie Plum is out of work, behind on the rent, and about to have her car repossessed. But she has a large extended family. So she gets a job as a Bounty Hunter from her sleazy cousin Vinnie. The bail jumper she gets assigned to is Joe Morelli, ex-cop accused of murder. He seduced her in high school and dropped her. She can get a $10,000 reward if she can bring him in.Stephanie has no martial arts training and is afraid of her gun. But she’s reckless and determined. The road to her goal is paved with blood and terror — with lots of shocks along the way. She is an engaging protagonist, and Morelli is a charming and devious target. Stephanie is also blessed with a sweet mother who is horrified by her job and wants to marry her off — and an outrageous grandma in spandex shorts who watches cop show on TV and loves Stephanie’s job.I was delighted with this book and have ordered the next one.

Divertente e ben scritto
Non è alta letteratura, ma è divertente e la protagonista non è né la patetica imbranata né la donna cazzuta, ma una donna normale, con i suoi casini, che prova fare un lavoro pericoloso perché deve.

A refreshing style of writing
This was my first novel from this author - and I have since obtained Kindle versions of the second and third books in the series. I think that says it all, don't you?
